Combined shipping bug in ebay basket.
Summary: zetabeam expresses frustration about the inability to ask for the total for items in the eBay cart, especially when they’re managed by eBay or require immediate payment. They criticize this practice, which seems to encourage extra costs for buyers, potentially pushing sellers and buyers toward other platforms like Whatnot. The situation would be improved if a simple click allowed requesting the total.
Too often, when ordering from abroad, it is impossible to ask the seller for the total from the eBay cart. The message displayed is the following: "You can't request the total for items whose shipping is handled wholly or partly by eBay."
There are other variants of this message, such as: "You can't request the total for items requiring immediate payment."
Every time, you have to contact the seller and ask them to relist all the items you want in a single listing just for you.
I don't think eBay gains anything by acting like this. The attempt to squeeze (a lot) more money out of buyers is too obvious. At best, sales don't happen. At worst, sellers and buyers turn to other platforms, like Whatnot.
Unless this is just a bug. Everything would be so much simpler if we could just click on "request the total".
