The online dispute resolution (ODR) platform will soon be removed
Summary: fr_news_team informs sellers that the European Commission is going to shut down the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform. Starting March 20, 2025, it will no longer be possible to submit complaints through this platform, and it will be permanently closed on July 20, 2025. Sellers will no longer be required to provide links to the ODR platform, and fr_news_team advises removing any reference to this platform from listings before it closes. Consumers are encouraged to review eBay’s Terms of Use for handling complaints in the future.
Dear sellers,
As you know, the European Commission has until now made an online dispute resolution platform (“ODR platform”) available to consumers, which can be used for out-of-court dispute resolution.
This platform will soon be discontinued. Sellers will therefore no longer be required to provide a link to the ODR platform.
You can find the details of the new regulation here, which repeals the existing one.
What is this about?
From March 20, 2025, it will no longer be possible to submit complaints on the ODR platform.
By July 20, 2025 at the latest, all dispute-related information on the ODR platform, including personal data, will be deleted and the platform itself will be discontinued.
I am a consumer, what do I need to do?
You do not need to do anything else. Please simply note that this out-of-court dispute resolution tool will no longer be available. When using eBay services, you can refer to the User Agreement to manage complaints and, more generally, to resolve disputes.
I am a seller, what do I need to do?
From July 20, 2025, you will no longer be required to provide information, links, or references to the ODR platform in your listings. You should therefore remove them from your listings beforehand. You may also inform buyers that they can no longer use the ODR platform to submit complaints after March 20, 2025.
