cancellation of a purchase
Summary: laetitrouvailles expresses frustration about a new eBay rule that cancels unpaid purchases after four days, which has caused him inconvenience as a buyer used to bundled purchases. He now finds himself marked as a non-paying buyer with no way to communicate with the seller. lingma85 suggests that laetitrouvailles communicate with sellers to avoid strict enforcement of the terms, explaining that this rule was introduced to combat non-paying buyers. He advises explaining his situation to sellers and on the forum to get support and improve the buying experience.
Hello everyone,
It's now been nearly 18 years that I've been buying and selling on ebay. And I'd like to know whether, like me, you were surprised as a buyer by ebay's latest measure in favor of sellers, namely that if you haven't paid within four days your purchase is canceled for non-payment, of course.... being used to making group purchases I wasn't wary, and with other auctions from the same sellers appealing to me I waited.... and then I got a boomerang effect, if you will, because now for two canceled purchases that I therefore have no way of catching up on I'm marked as a bad payer!!!! The saddest thing is that there isn't even any direct communication with the seller anymore. It's done, it's done, too bad for you!!!!
I would have liked to know whether this bad experience had happened to other people because it's more than unpleasant and in my case will force me to go elsewhere or at least will greatly reduce my purchases on this site.
Thanks

You write---> " being used to making group purchases, I wasn't suspicious, and since other auctions from the same sellers appealed to me, I waited...."
Aside from the fact that you don't seem to keep up with the changes that may happen, because your problem has existed since eBay directly took hold of the sale proceeds before passing the remaining balance on to the seller once their % was taken....
- why not tell the sellers that you intend to bid on other items... ? - they can (if they want to, of course) make sure that the strict application of the T&Cs does not apply to your repeated purchases... A little dialogue often sorts things out.
But given the bad habit some buyers have of not paying what they owe, eBay instituted a 4-day period for collecting sale payments and setting a starting date for various actions that may follow a transaction.
If you want to keep buying here, you'll need to contact the sellers in advance so they can put your username on a list exempting you from issues, if yours is banned. It's not a pleasant situation, but you can also give the link to your forum post so you can explain yourself better.
Not all sellers are savages and you'll certainly find understanding people.... and a year goes by quickly.
