WARNING! Tracking stickers export blocked by the post office!
Summary: In this discussion, participants share their frustrating experiences with using stickers for sending mail internationally. giors31 doesn’t understand why some stickers sold by the post office cause returns, while another participant points out that only certain types of stickers are now accepted. The debate broadens to the suitability of postal employees when it comes to handling shipments and the confusion around users buying stickers online. comicge mentions a shipment returned for non-compliance with import documents, adding to the general sense of bewilderment about the validity and correct use of these tracked stickers.
Hello,
after several international shipments "stuck" at the Roissy hub for more than a week, I just learned that the post office is blocking all shipments with export tracking stickers (starting with LE) under the pretext that they found out fake LE stickers are circulating...
Since they are not able to tell the difference between the real and the fake ones, any shipment with an LE sticker will be blocked...
And of course, the stickers in question are still for sale on their site...

·1 month agoI myself sent a tracked letter to the United States with stickers starting with LW, ordered on the postal service website, and I just noticed that the letter was returned to me with the message: Your shipment is going to be returned to its sender due to non-compliance with import documents, 45g letter...don’t understand

OP1 month agoHello,
if it's exactly the same kind of stickers as the ones used by legascon3, I'd say it's like the ads that violate the site's rules: it goes through just fine until the day when...
giors31
·1 month agoHello Are you talking about LW stickers? But I don’t understand, where do they come from? They’re not fake, otherwise how would the postal system recognize them? And above all, the simplest thing is to do checks at the post office .....
francexpressdeal
OP1 month agoHello,
basically, it was you who had talked about the LW stickers. I just asked you whether they were the same as legascon3’s.
You ask: "where do they come from?" If you’ve had this type of sticker, you’re the best placed to know where they come from.
Regarding the fact that the postal system recognizes them, that’s normal: it’s just a barcode reading.
For example, if you have fun putting an English tracking sticker on a parcel (that’s the trend right now), it will be read by the French postal system and its tracking will appear online.
Yet, it’s a type of sticker that has no business being on a shipment originating from France in the first place. So there’s a very good chance that this shipment will be "intercepted".
giors31
·1 month agoI didn't know who LEGASCON was, so I had to read further down and yes, it's the same ones, but between the LE, LV, LB ...... Soon it will be the whole alphabet that gets intercepted. No, I'm not in the best position since I didn't buy them on the post office website, which, as far as I can see, is not forbidden if they're valid and scanned at the post office, so sorry, but it's not up to me but to the post office to know whether their product is valid or not. Here we're not talking about English stickers that already risk not getting through at the post office, but about French LW stickers.... Likewise the ones you say are authorized, the purple booklet as you can see, and some sellers say they also have mail returned when using them. In my opinion, these so-called fraud department people would do well to review their law lessons ..... Because at some point you can't take people for fools either
francexpressdeal
OP1 month agoLong story short: I indicated in a post from June 19 the only 2 types of stickers currently accepted.
All the others are either fake or old La Poste stickers that are no longer authorized (for example LB stickers)
Regarding possible returns, even if you use official purple La Poste stickers: the issue has nothing to do with the sticker used, but is linked to the postage paid on the mailing. I had the problem and 2 mailings were returned to me in July 2025 because I had used postage with franc stamps. And another because the postage was on 2 lines) and since an update to the terms and conditions in July 2025, the postage must be on a single line.
And sorry too, but it is indeed up to you to check the validity of your stickers. Do not ask La Poste to inform you about stickers that do not come from them. (You say it yourself: "since I did not buy them on the La Poste website")
giors31
·1 month agoI think I’ve spent enough time in law school to know the law better than quite a few postal employees, if you don’t mind my saying so... Besides, it’s not because a tracked sticker is old (or because you bought it from the local baker) that it’s no longer valid, or else at that point they have to make an announcement at the post office and notify the sender, because those stickers were legally bought from the post office, at least by the first purchaser, so there is no reason to refuse them. It’s for sure that if nobody objects, they’ll keep going for a long time.... As for the ban on stamps in francs, I don’t agree, or at least I read the opposite recently, I think, but since I don’t use them it doesn’t concern me any more than that; however, unless there has been a recent innovation by ignorant people, national stamps are accepted on international mail if the postage is sufficient.... LOGICAL....
giors31
·1 month agoMoreover, all my shipments are dropped off at the post office, and accepted, so if employees take it upon themselves to refuse shipments previously accepted by the post office, that doesn’t depend on me. I’m a professional seller, not a postal worker! It’s not up to merchants to know whether a product is valid or not; otherwise we wouldn’t need postal workers then

OP1 month agoWe’ll do it differently:
For nearly a year now, for international tracked letters, the post office has only accepted 2 types of stickers:
1 / Those sold in packs of 5 or individually

·1 month agofrancexpressdeal
OP1 month agoCONTINUED:
your sticker looks like the one we get by using my online stamp, but it isn't possible to have just a sticker on my online stamp.
Hence my question.
legascon3
·1 month agoIt’s true that it looks similar, but it’s not the same one; there’s the "express" logo, the barcode is narrower, there’s less space under the barcode (no number), where does this come from, again?
I bought them from someone who had a company (importing phone batteries) that no longer exists and is getting rid of them.
And like with the old ones on sheets of 3, it took a little over 20 grams for these to come out... that must be because the machine spits them out so they can be sorted separately.
I’ve seen the English stickers, the fake "LV" ones, but these are completely unknown, even with AI.
giors31
·1 month agoIt's true, but we're not supposed to know all the stickers in circulation, given that the post office changes its design, even on the online post office, 5 years ago they were different

So it's very strange. What isn't right is calling people fraudsters without explaining, some employees leave a lot to be desired, their system is messing up and it's the sender's fault.... Of course
giors31
·1 month agoI had the same issue and it’s the first time in my life, and I’ve been using these stickers for a month now..... But most of them go through so I don’t understand, one time they’re valid and the next they’re not? Indeed some employees seem to think they can do anything, it seems

·4 months agoUpdate :
Fantastic! :
They just blocked two RECOMMENDED international parcels (> 3cm high) for China for me!
Reason from the Income Protection department: This is not an international parcel but an international tracked letter (so no goods allowed, fair enough) because, despite the correct postage amount, I put on a sticker from the international registered form (form 517) which, according to them, is reserved for the international registered letter. Funny, because when I asked what you were supposed to put for registering an international parcel, I got no answer: they don't know!
Another move to prevent all parcels that aren't Colissimo!

buyers are used to "twisting your arm"

well then let them go!
grim-8319
·4 months agoBuyers aren't "twisting my arm" as you say; they rightly consider paying €54 for an order of €100 to be excessive.
Shipping costs have to be assessed in relation to the value of the goods.
Paying €54 instead of €34.70 for goods worth €1500 is not a problem in itself.
Paying €54 (international Colissimo 2kg) instead of €34.70 (international parcel 2kg) for goods worth €100 matters to the buyer.
Anyway, I'm going through Happy-Post now and La Poste is going to lose my business. By trying to have it all, La Poste is going to lose everything.... Their 2025 and 2026 revenue will keep getting worse, I predict it.
End of discussion.

·4 months agoHello @grim-8319
We must not overlook one fact....
- when you have several service providers for a transaction, each one will charge the rate that applies to their part without worrying about the next person.
That is what happens between carriers and the seller of low-priced items (or gift-price items...)...
There is no valid reason for the carrier to align their service with the value of what they are going to transport.
You have to face an obvious truth... the buyer who wants an item knows they will spend a certain amount for shipping it (at least Americans, who are used to high rates in their own country)... and especially when it comes to the quality of a service... (low cost has its limits...)
Doing business also means realizing that these services (excluding hand delivery) will always cause a stir if the people involved want everything without paying... it is the opposite of volunteering... because business is a profession whose management comes down to these details...
Go to your city’s Chamber of Commerce, where they will explain to you what to do and what to avoid when you get into this fight...

grim-8319
·4 months agoHello,
What I suspect is that:
- La Poste printed tons of international tracking stickers for businesses (boxes of 300 stickers, 4 stickers/page, dating from 2010 in my case: written on the general terms and conditions that came with them) and then sold them off cheaply to distributors (I bought some from official La Poste product distributors). Seeing them come back onto the market in huge numbers and realizing the lost revenue on the new stickers, they declare them fake (wrongly) and refuse them. Also, a tracking sticker means tracked letter, merchandise or international parcel, not Colissimo.
- La Poste, seeing stamps being used massively for postage (an obligation from the UPU and Arcep), tightens up the use of these stamps: not aligned, etc... (always this lost revenue/Colissimo issue).
- La Poste, seeing people using the option to send goods by tracked letter (lost revenue for Colissimo) or international parcel, tries to limit this kind of sending (end of the ability to use online postage for tracked letters with goods; why?).
- La Poste, seeing people increasingly use international registered mail (integrated tracking) rather than tracking stickers or Colissimo (€4.85 for R1, tracking sticker €2.80 if bought in packs of 5: a €2 difference not enough to put people off), bans goods in registered mail because if lost or if tracking is unavailable, La Poste has to pay €45 (R1) or €150 (R2). Not profitable...
- International tracking stickers are difficult to find, even in La Poste branches, because they make it possible to get around the obligation to use Colissimo.
- The end of scanning French tracking stickers at dispatch was also "a brilliant idea"! It is no longer tracking, it has become proof of delivery! It is also possible that this is to favor Colissimo...
- For the United States, the only possibility is, once again, Colissimo. In February they even blocked "Gifts" sent as letters or small parcels from private individual to private individual, even though US customs accepts them!
Basically, La Poste locks down the choice of shipping options, all just to sell these overpriced Colissimo services.
As La Poste is a national company, it does not favor exports (and therefore the trade balance) for French small businesses, all just to increase its profit. And I'm not even talking about the 7 to 10% /year increase in rates. So there is also a drop in revenue for French small businesses and therefore in taxes collected. Or even a complete stop in activity.
And so people will turn to other operators: Mondial Relay, Happy-post etc... and its profit will fall even more, so prices will rise again and so on. And then people will wonder why La Poste is having revenue problems....

·8 months agoLa Poste's blocking policy is completely arbitrary and seems to be applied in response to previous findings of fraud or alleged fraud.
In this case, for a commercial company, stubbornly harassing customers is completely counterproductive.
I have no financial interest in these alternatives, but I encourage you to take a look at Boxtal or Happy-Post (especially UK and Japan), which are private postal services at highly competitive rates and very responsive whenever there's a problem (I've tested them).

·8 months agoHello,
I'm coming back to this story about international tracking stickers "export".
There is no reason why we shouldn't be able to use them since they were sold by the post office, both in the "pro" version (sheets of 3 stickers) and in the "individual" version (14 euros for 5 on small individual sheets).
I am in contact with service.protection-du-revenu@laposte.fr
and the story is a whole different one :
"...........More precisely, we confirm that this item you are the sender of bears a sticker or postage mark that was not purchased from La Poste........"
"Following up on your questions, we confirm that only postage purchased in our branches or on our online store can be used in our delivery network.
Thus, the tracking you used and of which you will find the photo is not sold by La Poste.
For additional information, you will find via the link below the type of product you must use for tracking your international shipments :
Link provided by La Poste
These stickers were indeed sold by the post office but now they are stuck with it, there are still quite a few in circulation and the current stickers don't sell well.
They don't mention stamps at all, only tracking ("the tracking you used"), that's perfectly normal, they don't have the right to refuse the use of franc stamps that have not been demonetized and that have "postage value" (post office jargon). Forcing us to buy stamps on the site instead of using the ones we have in stock (even euro stamps with permanent validity would be affected!) is completely illegal, it's forced selling. They even go so far as to talk about counterfeiting to scare us but that's totally false, these stickers are completely impossible to forge.
I've already had to refund more than 120 euros to my buyers because of their nonsense, not to mention the loss of postage and stickers.
"...........More precisely, we confirm that this item you are the sender of bears a sticker or postage mark that was not purchased from La Poste........"
I replied:
Today, they are getting rarer so prices have gone up, examples :

OP9 months ago@fine-arts-canvas
the checks carried out by the "Fraud Prevention and Fight" department in Roissy do not concern only the stickers themselves.
If you frank your mail with stamps in francs, you may be concerned by this little line that was added in July 2025 to La Poste's terms and conditions: "The postage must be affixed to the front of the item, in the top right, above the address block and on the same line in order to be read automatically."
Source : https://www.laposte.fr/conditions-generales-de-vente
This simple mention is clearly open to various interpretations at La Poste and can therefore be the reason for a return...
Based on this line of the terms and conditions, I was also told (I quote) : " the placement of the stamps is not restricted to the top right of your item as requested." In other words, I am indeed on one line, but my stamps take up too much space...
Pure art!
On this point, I asked to be told how many cm I was allowed!
Another reason for return that was given to me : " The use of permanently valid stamps (without face value) such as the Marianne stamp is only possible for letters and Colissimo items destined for Metropolitan France and the overseas departments. As your items are destined for international delivery, the postage is, in this case, non-compliant."
Of course, I no longer got any responses when I asked for the excerpt from the terms and conditions stating that...
In short, any excuse is good enough to return an item to you.
As for the fact that this only affects international shipments with an LE sticker, I am still waiting for explanations there too...

·9 months agoYou may be able to provide me with a solution to my problem. I also use stamps in francs and since August a lot of orders have been returned to me.
At first, I thought it was because of that famous story about tracking stickers, since I use stamps in francs + stickers, but even using stickers recently bought on La Poste’s website, a lot of mail still doesn’t get through.
So maybe it’s because, most of the time, I stick the stamps on in 2 lines. I even thought that postage in francs had now been abolished. I’m therefore going to try other mailings by sticking them on a single line.
Thank you.
Kind regards.
francexpressdeal
OP9 months agoHello @linetteonline
just a clarification. I had actually looked into this line issue back in July.
2 cases (the rectangles being stamps):
For case 2, the question doesn't even arise and it is now against the terms and conditions.
On the other hand, there are various interpretations for case 1. In July, I was told that it wasn't a problem if 2 small stamps were one under the other, since that still constituted ONE single line.
But it turns out that one of my mailings was returned because of this... for the post office, I quote "there are several postage lines"...
So avoid that... And also be careful about the space (the width) that your postage takes up on the envelope.
On that point, I'm still waiting for an answer.

1 / "La Poste made the mistake of designing 2 stickers for international tracked mail that were almost identical, bearing the same name « export suivi » and starting with the same letters « LE »"
There have been different international tracking sticker models, but they were not designed at the same time and, above all, they don't look anything alike...
Screenshot of the old model and the current one ( official models sold online and in post offices) :
The problem was that the old model ended up being sold by sellers supposedly approved by La Poste, but at prices that had nothing to do with the official ones... As low as €0.50 even though La Poste was selling them for €2.80. I'm not sure La Poste would have accepted that from its "approved" sellers...
And it is indeed these stickers that are checked at Roissy. This therefore leads to much longer delivery times and possible returns if the shipments are deemed non-compliant.

·9 months agoThe “fake” sticker as you call it is absolutely not fake; it is a product designed for professionals by office-supplies professionals, like the pseudo here on eBay, who received approval from La Poste to produce these stickers. These stickers do not have the same conditions of use as the stickers sold at post offices for €2.80. The conditions of use are explained in the January 2019 terms and conditions. It states that you must use an online stamp and additional postage at the international letter TRACKED rate, unlike La Poste’s, where you just put your sticker at the international letter rate. These different conditions of use for a product that looks similar created a lot of confusion among all users, and La Poste decided to change the design of its sticker. Good-faith users are suffering from this design blunder

·9 months agoYes, we have kept all the receipts for these tracking labels and since we ordered them on the postal service website, we also have all the purchase transactions for these labels. However, in the mail they sent us, they kept some envelopes and they will only return them to us in exchange for payment of the fees. It is then up to us to request reimbursement for the tracking labels, the fees, as well as the postage paid for nothing.
Thank you

OP9 months agoHello @bois.marine
do you really think that La Poste charges you fees to return your shipments to you and then reimburse them to you?
Of course not...
And that’s exactly why you need to address the issue from the start with the "Fraud Prevention and Control" service.
As said earlier, if you’re sure about your postage, it’s to them that you need to justify yourself.

·11 months agoOh yes, that's not normal because I sent two packages this week using tracked postage stickers that I bought 1 or 2 years ago at a post office (see photo attached). They're real, it wouldn't be normal for them to block them for me.

please contact the international customer service of La Poste in that case.
The sticker template you used is the old La Poste tracked export sticker. They indeed should not have considered it fraudulent.

·10 months agoAnyway, this sticker model
multicolored with detachable tabs, once sold in a booklet of 10 on the postal service website with free shipping, is impossible to counterfeit or copy because of the multiple detachable tabs. They've lost their minds, they no longer know what they're doing. This print-at-home stamp system showing the weight is **bleep**. Example: you have in your possession 2 500g labels, i.e. 15.20 euros x 2 30.40 euros, logically you could frank a 1kg parcel, but no, the postal service doesn't think like that because the price of a 1kg label is 22.40 euros. In fact everything is the same, you just can't get by.
