Tired of scam buyers, I'm thinking of shutting up shop
Summary: flomar_76 explains his frustrations as a Pokémon card seller on eBay. Although he accepts the platform’s high fees, he is dealing with dishonest buyers. Out of three sales, he encountered scams, including an attempted return with a counterfeit item and a false report of content theft. Faced with these challenges, he is considering giving up or changing his strategy.
Well, okay, I can deal with the outrageous commissions the platform takes, but I’m running into a problem I never would’ve imagined: scam buyers on protected.
As sellers, I’ve just discovered we’re screwed at every level. Out of 3 sales: one went really well, one offered to send me back a counterfeit, and the other bought an English card and then complained by message even though it says in the title that the card is English, in the photo, and in the description… and, unsurprisingly, this person sent me a photo of a plastic postal bag with the contents stolen… well, I accepted the return…
Am I just really unlucky, or should I change my business model too, create a buyer profile, buy 5 or 6 times to get a few good reviews, so I can really screw over a seller and…. recreate an account 5 minutes later?
