SHIPPING METHODS
Summary: nareio shares his thoughts on parcel shipping methods, expressing a preference for the postal service despite its higher costs, because of the convenience of home delivery. frelonverre replies by pointing out that as a seller, he favors the cheapest options like MR, but understands that choices need to be adapted to each buyer's needs. lemarcheaupuces adds that as a buyer, he also prefers the postal service for its reliability and convenience, thus avoiding the risks associated with pickup points. The discussion highlights the importance of offering a variety of options to satisfy different preferences and logistical needs.
Hello.
Right now, I'm receiving interesting offers from sellers on items I've viewed and I'm turning them down. Why?
The problem is sometimes neither the price nor the item, but the shipping method. And I'm not the only one: I'm only being offered MR. I have nothing against this company, but... despite its low prices.... it ends up costing me too much. (😗 ???) . For sellers baffled by this statement, here's a reminder of the pros and cons of each from the buyer's point of view.
MR is inexpensive, and parcels are kept safe until they are picked up. It's ideal for bulky parcels.... But you have to travel and, therefore, have a means of transport, pay for it and waste time. What's more, it's impossible to plan for a specific day if you're waiting for several parcels from different sellers, which means several trips.
La poste is more expensive, but it delivers to your home and it doesn't matter if the parcels arrive on different days, and if you don't have a bus or a car. It's perfect for small parcels.... But they can be left in unsafe mailboxes, or handed over to the wrong recipient. So you have to arrange to receive them.
So only the buyer knows what's good for them. Give them the choice. It's now easy for small parcels.
Best regards.

·3 years agoHello...
as a seller or buyer, I prefer the post office.
for small parcels, the prices are very competitive, even more so abroad.
since I opened an account with the post office, all my tracking appears on my account and all my parcels have arrived at their destination.
if I buy something delivered by the post office, I don't worry at all.
the mail carrier has a key that opens the whole panel of all the boxes for big parcels.
but when it's delivered by another company, it's a pain.
I get stuck at home waiting for delivery.
I have a mezzanine, sometimes I don't even have time to go downstairs and they've already left after ringing the bell.
often the info isn't even up to date, like showing as out for delivery.
I see pickup points like tobacco shops.
some are packed full of packages.
It takes them 10 minutes to locate a package.
too risky for my taste.
So as a buyer I prefer the post office, that way I'm not stuck at home.
my opinion, of course.
have a good day...

to someone else I'd have suggested you equip yourself accordingly but
well, I'll suggest another idea to you, on another well-known site the
promos on MR shipping fees exist, €0.99 no matter the weight
of course you'll have to go there, otherwise for your purchases only click on
items where postage is offered
have a good day

OP3 years agoHi, @frelonverre (glad to read you)
Well, yes, I know. BUT, sometimes, I say "I" and as the poet says (pouet pouet), I is ANOTHER. And I quite like being other people, from time to time.
A remote transaction isn't the same thing depending on who you are, where you live, where you work, what you can afford to spend. If you really need the thing, even if it's tiny, or if it's just for the "fun", as they say in modern French.
Basically, selling (and I'm also putting myself in the seller's shoes, who knows very well why they're selling, and it's not necessarily, there too, for the same reasons as someone else selling the same thing, or something else...) selling, I say, for it to work (maybe) , you have to consider the maximum number of situations. And we don't necessarily think of them all. Hence the point of leaving the choice....
In short again, you know what? I don't aim to be... just a REMINDER !! that should suit you..... hornet !!!
Best....

what, as a seller, I think is that since I offer free shipping
I go for the most practical and the cheapest option, since I sell on a site
where I still have the option to get paid however I want and not to
have to deal with the site’s dictates, I ship things however I want and so the
post offices in the countryside, being like the rest of society subject to
profitability pressures and therefore opening less and less in the
countryside, or even turned into post points or self-service machines for a service
no better than MR, I’m more and more giving up on the post office
look around you it’s QR codes everywhere, and well me in this world
where it’s every person for themselves I do what’s best for me
have a good afternoon

I was only considering the case of a paid parcel, of course, (and only within France, on top of that... And only by the most common shipping methods, too, on top of that...) If it’s free or hand-delivered, that’s another story....
As for the rest, what I’m saying is, well, it’s like you: if someone offers me stuff that doesn’t suit me, I look elsewhere... Too bad for the seller who didn’t understand why, and all the better for the one who figured out something he hadn’t thought of at first...
Otherwise, how are things? (what would annoy me most is....if we ended up arguing over this...well damn, then....)

·3 years ago@nareio hello
why do you want us to argue, everyone gives an opinion and neither one
nor the other is trying to force their truth on anyone
as for MR abroad (where it’s possible) I send it to the buyer’s home
address, even though it’s hermes that takes over (not much
trust in that carrier)
for the rest things are going pretty well, have a nice day
