EBAY ITEM REMOVALS / AI-RELATED ARBITRATION DECISIONS?
Summary: The discussion focuses on the frustrations of a seller, valislaeta, regarding eBay's removal of his listings, which he considers unjustified. He specifically mentions items taken down despite complying with eBay's defined categories, such as gendarmerie clothing and pre-1980 military accessories. Another participant, lingma85, suggests avoiding certain terms and contacting customer service. The conversation includes tension and accusations of bias toward eBay, and also touches on communication issues with the site. It turns into personal exchanges and criticism of how the forum works.
for several weeks now ebay has been removing more and more UNJUSTIFIED items from my account:
let me explain: why remove items when ebay directs our sales toward specific categories
example: militaria / clothing / police or gendarmerie BEFORE 1980
when we indicate that the item dates from the 1950s it is systematically removed from sale!
same for multi-function knives even though the category exists; same for 1950s postal bags etc etc / who do they think they're kidding?
ebay should be consistent with ITS own rules and STOP making us feel guilty
to date I have more than 15000 ratings and I am going to stop my collaboration with this site site which tramples on its professional sellers
valislaeta
OP4 months agoobviously you have VERY little experience with the site; your advice is of absolutely no use to me; I'll just keep your words in mind, with a small hope of wisdom in you: because of a lack of opponents... you know the rest, so you can say whatever you want, I'm throwing in the towel with you by stopping replying to you, enjoy yourself and ...farewell
valislaeta
OP4 months agoI think you didn’t understand my point; I wasn’t looking for a fight, just plausible explanations that could answer my 2 questions mentioned above (I don’t think I’ve bothered ebay much in over 20 years)
1/ arbitrary decision by ebay when it comes to removing listings: apparently it’s not AI, but rather a human intervention
2/ refusal by ebay to provide the 2023 turnover for professionals (they don’t have it!)
; I didn’t get that, but instead I was in contact with a representative, not very objective, defending the site tooth and nail and especially wanting to be right SYSTEMATICALLY; I would also have liked to benefit from the experience of other professionals who had the same kind of mishap, but that wasn’t the case; it has to be said that this intervention is very recent, time will tell us more with the many views on this dialogue of the deaf

you don't understand anything, the "many views" are just smoke and mirrors, I go over this topic ten times in a day and that makes 10 views and you do the same, the game is rigged, this forum is empty, the respondents are no longer more than 5 and not all of them have posted but they have all read it
in reality if you hadn't poured oil on the fire your controversial thread wouldn't have interested anyone, so you can stick your answer where the sun doesn't shine
valislaeta
OP4 months agoindeed he is on hold for 1 month ... need a vacation ; but there are almost 9000 listings!
listings that people can't buy ; yet ebay keeps on insisting on removing listings from me with bogus excuses ; as I keep saying , today 2 airplane photos with the reason : Explosives and military artillery pieces are prohibited on eBay. Protective equipment and other military surplus items that comply with our policy may be sold.
I am available to anyone who wants to see this MAJOR flaw of the site
lingma85
·4 months agoIt appears from your last message that the vocabulary used in the titles or descriptions could be the cause of your troubles...
- avoid the words used in the site guidelines for prohibited items.. that will help you.
( robots are dumb...)
Best regards
valislaeta
OP4 months agoare you doing this on purpose?
the title of the ad for the photos of planes has nothing to do with what you’re saying: I describe planes in full flight as part of a squadron; don’t blame the machines but rather the humans who interpret our language very badly and who, to keep their jobs, allow themselves to do anything, knowing they’re backed up in their decision
lingma85
·4 months agoNot in the mood to stress about it...
END OF CONVERSATION as far as I'm concerned.
valislaeta
OP4 months agoA LITTLE SMILE?
250 views in 24 hours — does that blow you away or is it a damp squib, to use your expression...?
eBay is not going to be happy with how you handled these 2 important issues
1/ eBay's arbitrary decision regarding removing listings: apparently it's not AI but rather the result of human intervention
2/ refusal by eBay to provide the 2023 turnover for professionals (they don't have it!)

OP4 months agoI'm surprised that on a Saturday evening at 10:00 p.m. you're still discussing trivialities, all that for eBay's honor?
Don't you have a family life? a husband, children? grandchildren?
really what a waste of time ... I'm going back to Netflix
lingma85
·4 months agosince I have no intention of telling you my life------> = I’m throwing your questions back at you since you keep answering again and again....
Good evening and enjoy Netflix...
Sweet dreams.
valislaeta
OP4 months agoit's the site's paranoid guy ....apparently you informed your little friends at eBay who are removing a good number of items from my sales, including photos of airplanes, by passing this off as weapons ...of course you'll say anything to defend them ...still, I can prove what I'm saying
know that my comments will remain in our conversation, which won't help the irreducible eBay site diehards ask themselves a few questions...
lingma85
·4 months agoYour account is on pause...
so what's happening there....
valislaeta
OP4 months agoyou are undermining your eBay friends by systematically replying to my requests, and with replies that are not up to par
by the way, you said you had several aliases? for what purpose? maybe were they the people who replied to me through you?
lingma85
·4 months ago"by the way, you said you had several usernames? for what purpose ?" you ask...
- simply to avoid mixing things up, like = buying on one side and selling on the other...
and when selling = same thing-----> avoiding selling fine lingerie and children's toys, for example...
( that already makes 3 different usernames + the forum one = 4... )
🤔 😀 😂 🤣
Happy...?
have a good evening
Best regards
valislaeta
OP4 months agoshall we remind ourselves in 1 week?
the main thing is that people can have an opinion about the site ...but maybe they’d rather have an opinion on certain sites that are developing more? it’s eye-opening!
when your contact lenses have fallen from your eyes you’ll be disillusioned with ebay
valislaeta
OP4 months agoNo, it's very good; I really appreciate people who put themselves at the service of others; that said, our little debate is blowing up (check out the views) ; did I kick over the anthill?
lingma85
·4 months agoYou’re getting big-headed...
a little 100-odd views = all sizzle and no steak..
Between 500 and 1000 views = now it gets interesting.

OP4 months agoif AI is not guilty, then you should definitely / maybe / perhaps.... be more vigilant in choosing your employees used abroad who definitely / maybe / perhaps.... speak French badly!
By the way, the item removed from sale was a leather postal satchel from the 70s; this one has not been used for a very long time by the current postal service.... how did I violate eBay's principles?
same thing today: removal of a gendarmerie jacket dating from the 60s/70s, no longer used at all by the current gendarmerie / I am telling you that eBay allows police and gendarmerie clothing dating from BEFORE 1980
so ... a little smile? me, it's not funny anymore at all.... 15000 ratings to be kicked out like a **bleep**
lingma85
·4 months agoYou write----> "if AI is not guilty, then you should certainly / no doubt / maybe .... be more vigilant in choosing your employees used abroad who certainly / no doubt / maybe .... handle the French language badly!"
You made me laugh by copying the way I write...
But
- you don’t seem to have understood that you are not addressing someone from eBay staff... but a user like you...
So it’s pointless.
Your examples------>
- leather postal bag from the 70s; this one hasn’t been used for a very long time by the current post office.... how have I violated eBay’s principles?
Ebay says that it is state property---- forbidden for sale ( Policy on official items | eBay )
- removal of a gendarmerie jacket dating from the 60s/70s, no longer used at all by the current gendarmerie / I should point out that eBay allows police and gendarmerie clothing dating from BEFORE 1980.
It must meet 3 conditions... is that the case...? ( Policy on official items | eBay )
If YES... contact Customer Service.
Best regards
valislaeta
OP4 months agoyou certainly have some advantages to being eBay's stooge, even if you are not one of their employees; you defend their interests tooth and nail with no objectivity
_ these bags have NEVER belonged to the state (and in the hypothesis that they did belong to the state, there are regularly Domaine sales intended to sell state equipment)
_ you do not mention the 3 conditions for the gendarmerie jacket and as I like to repeat, the suggested category does not even mention it: militaria / gendarmerie / uniforms before 1980 (nothing more)
_ today, removal of a navy cap band, completely obsolete for several decades (excuse given by eBay: police clothing: forbidden; I would like to remind you that the police and the navy are different branches)
I think that eBay wants my head because I have caused a lot of trouble with my testimony and more particularly about the 2023 turnover; a document that eBay refuses to provide and for good reason, the site does not have it, no more for me than for the other professionals; on that point, ABSOLUTE silence from eBay (and from you...)
it is highly likely that in the coming days eBay will kick me off its site....readers will show discernment by checking
finally: you suggest that I complain to customer service....an unsuitable, incompetent service, seeking above all positive marks from their interlocutors to piously keep their jobs....and that's not exploitation?

you must certainly have advantages in being eBay’s lackey, even if you’re not one of their employees; you defend their interests tooth and nail with complete lack of objectivity
I find you particularly unpleasant,y
I think eBay wants my skin because I’ve caused a lot of trouble with my testimony and more particularly about the 2023 revenue; a document that eBay refuses to provide and for good reason, the site doesn’t have it, no more for me than for the other professionals; on that subject, ABSOLUTE silence from eBay (and from you.
and paranoid on top of that if we’re not talking about it, it’s because your issues are way above our heads

·4 months ago@valislaeta
If the only goal is to put everyone who replies to you in their place, just know that the forum is not a place to vent.
As for your 15,000 reviews, besides the fact that the argument is flimsy, there's no need to mention it at the end of every post: okay, we get it... 😉
Good sales!
valislaeta
OP4 months agowhat do you say to someone who only has 11 reviews? bullshit?
valislaeta
OP4 months agoyou think you're in la-la land...keep believing it, it does you good
by the way, are you a professional or not? how many evaluations please?
I've got more than 15,000 of them

me, I don't brag about my "good points", that just proves that if eBay wants to kick you out, you'll come crashing down
and don't worry about the land of the Care Bears, I learned the ropes there, but that was a long time ago

Indeed.... a very big advantage... ( 😂 😂 😂 )
- thanks to contributors like you, I can put a label on the few interventions I make...
Thank you for your precision as well as your courtesy.
I gave you a link to read... so there is no need for me to copy/paste it here...
You seem to be stubborn... I can't help that..
- sell your military articles or not on specialized sites and you won't have the troubles you have here.

OP4 months agothank you for going to so much trouble to find the right section (I know it)
so I invite you to ban all illegal sales on the site ...and to ask eBay to stop taking several of them down for me every day ...
and again, I know the answer to that (1,500 ratings helps!): all you have to do is report it (to keep it short)
we're no longer in the marshal's era...
valislaeta
OP4 months agoI feel kind of abandoned as a professional by the site whose main goal is to make money; when you ask for specific things like the 2023 turnover, there is no one around and I have no intention of going on Facebook to find eBay staff who will tell me more (or less...)
you don't have the answer and it bothers you
lingma85
·4 months ago"you don't have the answer and that bothers you" you write
Well no... it doesn't bother me at all...
- I just don't have the means/tools to dive into your account and see what's going on there...
I'm just a modest member of the site, who sells and buys with other usernames...
- who had the bad idea of wanting to help others only to run into people of your kind from time to time (I must admit that it also amuses me...)...
- that's bad doctor...??? 🤔
Have a good rest of your evening.
Kind regards
lingma85
·4 months agoGood evening @valislaeta
Certainly/without a doubt/maybe... a question of vocabulary...
With AI... there’s no compromise or real intelligence capable of playing with words...
With the private listings on your profile and their absence in your sales.. it’s hard to see what could have put you in a difficult spot.
Go over all the terms listed in the prohibited items and avoid using them...
This may, maybe help you avoid the trap...
Use synonyms if needed.
Kind regards
