Immediate purchase
Hello. I paid for an item after a buy-it-now listing. I paid via PayPal. The seller now wants to go outside the site with payment by cheque because he is afraid to enter his bank details on ebay. What should I do? I do not want to cancel the purchase. Thanks

Mentor5 months agoHello
The seller should have thought about that before selling on eBay because this payment method is not allowed and your purchase will not benefit from eBay protection.
If he doesn't provide his bank details, he can stop his sales right away.
See the article Pay for items
Once payment has been made, either he cancels the transaction, or he ships the item .
If he does neither, you'll have to open a dispute for item not received once the estimated delivery date has passed.

"he's afraid to enter his bank details on eBay" = this is something he should have thought about BEFORE putting it up for sale.
The seller is not entitled to force you to pay by cheque, and on your side you can't force him to ship...
"What to do?" = it's up to you alone to decide; there's no magic solution, either you give in to his demands or you cancel.
But in any case, the seller would first have to trigger the refund before considering another payment method, knowing that off-site transactions are prohibited.
