Bad-faith buyer
Summary: arnaud1710 sold an item at auction and shipped it before receiving payment from the buyer. The customer said the item wasn’t as described and asked for a resolution. arnaud1710 offered to cancel the sale if the item was returned, but a discussion followed about who should pay the return shipping costs. jacquelinedu36 advised not to ship before payment anymore, and *miss-tigri* noted that if the item is not as described, return shipping is generally the seller’s responsibility, and suggested that payment may have been made but not yet transferred by eBay.
Hello.
I sold an item at auction on 15/10/2023.
In order to avoid the delivery taking too long, I sent the item via Mondial Relay the next day (since I wasn't available in the following days) even before the buyer paid the invoice (wrongly, I know...).
Today, still having not received payment, I followed up with the buyer, who tells me that the item is not as described and asks me to find a compromise.
I replied telling him to send the item back to me and that the sale would be canceled.
Following that, he even dares to ask who will cover the return shipping costs...
Can you shed some light on this situation for me?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards.

Mentor2 years agoHello
If the item isn't as described (or described as such), the return shipping costs are indeed your responsibility..
If you've been given the buyer's address and they were able to open a dispute, it means the payment was made but eBay hasn't forwarded it to you yet ...😉

Mentor2 years agoHello,
It’s you who made the blunder so not much to do
Next time wait for payment before shipping
and if you want to get the parcel back you’ll still have to pay and maybe not even get the parcel back
