“Add tracking to shipments” on policy-compliant presales I cannot ship yet
Summary: arthurtheaardvark_0 is experiencing a restriction on their seller account due to a task requiring them to add tracking details for presale items listed on eBay. The issue arises because they cannot provide tracking until the items are received from the supplier. The listings were compliant with eBay’s Presale Policy but were flagged due to limitations on setting a handling time longer than 3 days. lingma85 suggests using the standard eBay selling form to avoid this in the future. arthurtheaardvark_0 seeks advice on whether a restriction can be paused and requests clarification on using different forms for presales.
Hello,
My seller account is restricted with this task: “Add tracking to shipments. Provide tracking details for eBay to confirm delivery. If you don’t have tracking, the task will resolve when eBay confirms the buyer received the item.” While my account is restricted, I am unable to edit my listings and they are masked/hidden from the public.
The open orders are presales. I do not have the items yet, so I cannot add tracking. The listings were set up according to the Presale Policy:
“Presale” / “Vente anticipée” is in the title and the description
Each listing states the official store’s anticipated ship date
The description states I will ship within 1 business day of receiving the item from the supplier, and within 40 business days of purchase per eBay’s presale policy, or I will contact the buyer and offer a solution or a full refund
Buyers were told these are presales
When I created the listings I could not set handling time longer than 3 business days. I don’t know if that was a site/app limit or a policy setting on my account. I put the 40-business-day timeline in the listing text instead.
eBay initially flagged the listings under the presale policy. I contested those flags, and after review, the listings were confirmed as respecting the policy and left up. They then sold.
Is this restriction expected on presales when the system handling time is 3 days but the description has the 40-day window?
Can a live agent pause the “add tracking” task and restore selling until the supplier ship dates, or does the hold usually stay until I actually ship and upload tracking?
How do I set a longer handling time on future presales so this doesn’t happen again? I only saw a 3-day maximum.
Thank you.

Mentor3 weeks agoHello @arthurtheaardvark_0
Use this form to make your announcements----->
Use the standard selling form | eBay
On the other hand, since buyer protection is only valid for the 30 days following the expected delivery date...
you need to be precise with the dates...
Best regards

OP3 weeks agoHello and thank you for the reply.
I think I understand: the default listing form only let me set handling time up to 3 business days, and the longer options are on the standard selling form. Why are there two different forms, and why is the more complete one not the default ... ? I will use that form for any future presales.
Two follow-up questions on the orders that already sold:
Those 3 sales were listed with a 3-day handling time because that was the only option I could select. The title and description said presale, and stated shipment within 40 business days of purchase. eBay first flagged the listings; I contested them and they were confirmed as respecting the presale policy, then they sold. Is there any way to update the handling time / expected ship date on those already sold orders if the buyers agree in writing?
My account is still restricted with “Add tracking to shipments.” I cannot add tracking because the items are not in hand yet. I have not marked them shipped. Can a restriction like this be paused or lifted by the technical support team for now?
Thank you.
