Cancel a sale
Summary: The discussion is about a problem encountered by paolina37 while selling a bottle of wine on eBay. Having not acted in time to cancel the sale, a dispute was opened by the buyer. koalagris advises following the online procedure to resolve the dispute and initiate a refund. Despite the difficulties, paolina37 says that the issue was ultimately resolved thanks to eBay's intervention. koalagris's remarks were meant to encourage paolina37 to act more quickly.
I recently created an eBay account to put bottles of wine up for sale.
But I’m a beginner and I didn’t really know how it worked.
I have a man who paid for one of my bottles on July 23; I hadn’t seen the notification and I looked into it, but unfortunately it’s way too complicated for me, both when it comes to shipping because I’m afraid it might break and also because it’s very costly compared to the weight of the bottle, so I’d rather stop everything.
I sent a message to this man to explain that I wanted to cancel the sale, I’m waiting for his response but I looked and I can’t cancel because there is a dispute, so I don’t know what to do?

Mentor2 years agoHello @paolina37
This sale is now almost 3 weeks old: it was up to you to act to cancel and refund; the buyer couldn’t do anything else but open a dispute.
Now that it’s open, follow the procedure:
https://www.ebay.fr/help/selling/managing-returns-refunds/helping-buyers-items-not-received?id=4116
eBay fees will be due (you should check the terms before listing it)

OP2 years agoI sent a message to the gentleman and I also contacted eBay to ask them to end the dispute so that I can cancel the purchase and the person can be refunded, I'm waiting for their replies now.
Best regards,

Mentor2 years agoHave you read the help page??? 🤔
You can initiate the refund yourself from the dispute (which will cancel the transaction).
There’s no point trying to do it any other way; it’s too late to change the situation...
"I also contacted ebay // I’m waiting for their replies" = contacted through what means?
(at the very bottom of the help page there’s a link to have the site call you back, no need to wait any longer)

OP2 years agoBut I’m not doing anything else; it’s simply that I don’t know how to do it and I’d like someone to help me so this issue can be resolved quickly. Thank you

Mentor2 years agoWhy paraphrase the eBay help page? 😮
There, you’ll also find, by the way, a big blue button "resolve a dispute for an item not received" ...
Here’s the link again:

Otherwise contact the site (see all the way at the bottom)

OP2 years agoI didn't think it was such a big deal to cancel a purchase...
