Scam, item not as described
Summary: eskuriiax explains that they sold a FFXIV collector’s box on eBay, where the buyer is requesting a refund for a missing item and claims the game codes don’t work. Although everything was sealed when shipped, the buyer used the codes and damaged the packaging. eskuriiax is considering filing a complaint with the gendarmerie, and is asking for advice on eBay. max2661953 replies that a refund is likely, with extra fees, and thinks the idea of filing a complaint is unlikely.
I sold a FFXIV collector’s box set, the box had already been opened and everything it contains is still sealed and complete of course. The game itself inside is also sealed.
But 5 days after the buyer received it, he asks for a refund for items not as described.
According to him there is a missing item inside that was indeed present when it was sent, and on top of that he opened the game’s blister pack, used the codes it contained, and says the codes don’t work.
So I’m supposed to refund him? For a sealed item that he opened and damaged. I don’t see any recourse on the site, why is there no investigation during a dispute.
Also, the returned item is supposed to be in the same condition as when it was sent and not opened and all damaged.
In any case I’m going to file a complaint with the gendarmerie.
What should I do with eBay?

Your buyer will be refunded, and if you're a bit reluctant, you'll also have €16 in fees, and risk not getting your game back, if it's indeed the same one!
A complaint to the police? Are you kidding?
