scam on eBay
Summary: lartdesgents_84000 shares a frustrating experience of a scam involving eBay and PayPal. After selling an item, the buyer claims not to have received the parcel even though the Post Office confirms delivery. However, without a tracking update, eBay and PayPal rule in the buyer's favor, and the buyer then disappears, leaving lartdesgents_84000 with no recourse and with €18.95 in case fees. lingma85 advises using insured registered shipping to avoid financial losses, noting that this involves additional costs, but emphasizes the importance of insurance in case of loss. lartdesgents_84000 clarifies that the shipment was registered, but the tracking update was not made by the Post Office.
Hello everyone,
Here’s the scam with the complicity of PayPal and eBay.
You sell an item, the customer receives it, but on the carrier’s website (La Poste) there is no tracking.
The customer files a dispute with eBay, and it is in your favor.
Meanwhile, you file a claim with La Poste, which takes a few days to reply.
The customer files a claim with their payment center (PayPal).
You respond to the PayPal dispute, but you don’t have La Poste’s reply.
You receive a message from La Poste saying that the customer did receive the order, so no insurance.
PayPal takes 2 months to reply, and since the information is no longer on La Poste’s website, and eBay wants nothing to do with it because the customer filed their claim with PayPal, they wash their hands of it.
you can contact the customer because they unsubscribe. And eBay charges you €18.95 in processing fees....
You’ve been well and truly ta...

Mentor2 years agoHello @lartdesgents_84000
It would seem that you sell tickets or coins... so light, not very bulky items that fit into envelopes...
The fact of sending them by tracked mail... does not guarantee that the said mail will reach its destination, and if there is any problem... there is no insurance and therefore no refund from the post office.
On the other hand, registered mail or a registered parcel with insurance will almost always arrive and, above all, in the event of loss... you won't be out of pocket when you refund your buyer...
but it also has to be acknowledged that this has a cost...
As for the time the post office takes to carry out an investigation, it may correspond to the time allotted for a dispute and for contesting that dispute if you do not agree with its conclusion.
Best regards

OP2 years agoHello, the shipment was sent by registered mail, but the post office hasn't updated its website.
Despite my call, they didn't want to change it.
