Article removed for violation of the rules
Summary: sbastierigue_0 expresses frustration after one of their listings was removed by eBay for violating the rules on the sale of replica firearms. They mention having followed a similar sales example and note that many similar items are still online. koalagris advises not to push it after a removal to avoid account restrictions and suggests contacting eBay for an explanation. sbastierigue_0 thanks them for the advice and clears up a misunderstanding about koalagris's intention.
Hello,
One of my items for sale was removed by Ebay for not complying with the "Replica Firearms, Toys and Imitation Firearms Regulations".
It was an old pistol (from the 1950s) as part of a pirate costume.
The Ebay message says: "The sale of replica firearms is prohibited on eBay."
OK, if that's the rule, no problem...
But when I type "toy gun" into the site search engine, more than 250 items appear!?! Some of them are exactly like mine...!
Of course, I tried to contest it, but I get an automatic reply and... obviously, it's impossible to talk to an AI, there's no one on the other side!
What recourse do I have in this case?
Thank you

OP4 months agoHello "koalagris"
Yes, I kind of figured as much, but I checked carefully and a lot of articles are being listed from France.
Also, I started from an item already sold by using the "sell yours" function to make sure I was in sections/subsections already used by other sellers....
That’s exactly why I don’t understand the measure.
And I have to admit I’m a bit surprised by your remark: "[...] it is always a very bad idea to insist: the account’s longevity is at stake... [...]" !
I’m just trying to understand a measure that was taken against me and that I find unjustified... Would that be punished by the site?
Are our accounts so little considered by Ebay that asking for consistency and an explanation could put my account in danger?
I’m surprised because your message sounds a bit threatening...
Kind regards
Sébastien

Mentor4 months agoIt's just a bad interpretation on your part: it was nothing more than advice.
Because when you put back online an item removed by the site, it ends up with account restriction//suspension.
As for explanations, only eBay can provide them, and they are not known for doing so...

"more than 250 articles appear" :
The rules vary by country, and you also need to weigh the categories//sub-categories and the keywords used.
In any case, if something is removed, it’s always a very bad idea to insist: the long-term survival of the account is at stake...
