Insurance for damaged item
I bought an item on Ebay on July 12 from an Italian seller. The package was partially torn and I thought it had been opened by customs, but that the item inside was intact. But it was damaged. I contacted Chronopost, who told me that it is up to the sender to file a claim. To this day I haven't heard anything back. I also know that items bought on Ebay are insured at least up to the amount paid. How do I make this insurance apply? Thank you.

In matters of insurance... it’s the sender who has to compensate you, then turn against their carrier for their own compensation if they took out insurance...
and you..
you should have refused the parcel.. But you accepted it, which makes things more complicated...
But given the current state of your case... all you can do is return the parcel and its contents and ask for a refund---->
- Return an item to get a refund | eBay
Regards
. PS---->
as for this claim-->
"I also know that items bought on eBay are insured for at least the amount paid."
That’s pure fantasy...
eBay insures nothing...
it only forces a refund within a precise timeframe and with equally precise rules...
that’s all..
