Hello
Summary: ddel_fr_acjkck63 was concerned about a buyer’s behavior after they asked to have two small porcelain boxes removed from their order after paying. The buyer fears a dispute over an order not matching the listing. lingma85 advises cancelling the transaction, since a request for changes after payment can cause problems, and notes that any changes should be discussed before the purchase. ddel_fr_acjkck63 decides to cancel the sale, and *miss-tigri* advises them to choose the correct cancellation reason to avoid fees.
I just sold a lot of jewelry + 2 small porcelain boxes (jewelry box), buyer's offer below the price I accept, she sends me a message asking me not to include the 2 small boxes because her mailbox is too small and she doesn't have any use for them. I explain to her that the 2 boxes won't change the size of the parcel at all but she doesn't want them, can she later open a dispute for non-compliant order? I suggested canceling and that I repost an ad without the boxes, she doesn't want that and wants the shipment as is without these 2 boxes.
Can you tell me if this is common or if it smells like a scam?
Thanks to everyone for your feedback.

Mentor6 months agoHello,
You don’t specify whether the buyer paid... even though that’s essential information.
Best regards

OP6 months agoI’m not really sure; should I send the boxes anyway since they’re in the listing, at the risk that she refuses the package, or should I send it without the boxes as she wants, also at the risk that she opens a dispute for item not as described, or should I cancel everything and refund her.
I do have messages from her asking me to remove the boxes and where she tells me that her mailbox is too small and that she has no use for them, but I think that for eBay the buyer will be right if she opens a dispute.
Thanks to everyone for your help and advice.

Mentor6 months agoHello @ddel_fr_acjkck63
Your message points to a nest of trouble...
When a buyer pays for a transaction, that also means they accept the full terms and details of it...
- asking, after payment, to change the contents of the transaction before it is sent is opening the door to a possible dispute for item not as described and a refund request, as you suspect...
In such a case, it would be better to cancel the transaction for a request that goes against the terms included in the listings... because sending it anyway by Colissimo could get you into trouble, since you may have to go to the post office to pick up the parcel if it does not fit in the mailbox.
Any request for a change, whether in the contents of the offer or the delivery method, must be made BEFORE purchase and payment, not after...
Of course, do as you see fit and above all what is best for your interests...
Best regards

Choose the correct cancellation reason so you don’t have to pay the selling fees.
