I finalized a purchase through an auction, but before bidding I hadn't noticed that it was for local pickup only. I've contacted the seller several times, but they absolutely aren't responding. The problem is that eBay is asking me to complete my purchase by paying, except I can't pick up my purchase in person (because it's too far away). How can I cancel the transaction? Thanks to everyone who replies.

wait for the seller to respond...
(it’s up to him to confirm the cancellation if he doesn’t want to pay commission fees for nothing, and if he cancels for non-payment you’ll only have yourselves to blame since you didn’t read the listing)

As for your new question at 20:07: if there is a dispute for non-payment, it will be a warning on your account (with no consequence as long as you don't get a second one in the next 12 months, so it's up to you to be careful in the future).
