How do scammers keep a 100% positive rating?
Summary: 126barberaz shares a negative experience with a purchase on eBay, where a book bought in "like new" condition arrived in poor condition and incomplete. The seller denied the problems despite the evidence provided, but eBay refunded the item. 126barberaz left a negative review that was later removed, and is trying to understand why. koalagris and *miss-tigri* provide links to eBay policies, suggesting possible reasons for the review’s removal, but 126barberaz feels they were correct in their interactions. They are waiting for a response from customer service for clarification.
Hello,
I am writing to tell you about an unfortunate experience I had during an eBay transaction.
I bought the following item:
[Link] - Sold by [Username]
The listing said "item like new." The poor quality of the photos made it impossible to get an accurate idea of the item's condition.
I was surprised to find that the book I received was in a deplorable condition.
- Part of the book was missing, the folios go from page 17 to page 38.
- Most of the pages had fold marks, some were wrinkled, others were dirty or torn.
- The cover had numerous marks.
When I complained to the seller, he showed obvious bad faith, arguing either that it was not the same book I had sent him, or that for the price I paid, it was still a good deal. He kept on lying and making up stories (an earlier dispute, with no basis).
I provided him with photos proving that it was indeed the same book, but he continued to deny the obvious. In any case, it would have been impossible to take the photos for the listing before putting it up for sale without noticing the book's very poor condition. In short, the discussion was pointless.
I opened a dispute with eBay and the item was refunded to me quickly (thanks to customer service).
In view of the dishonesty and bad faith shown by the seller, I decided to leave him negative feedback, so that he would not try to scam other buyers and to punish his amoral behavior and the time he made me waste.
I now see that this feedback has disappeared. How is that possible?

OP1 year agoThanks koalagris for clarifying the rule about the ban on mentioning usernames or the listing references. Those details were removed by the moderator, whom I also thank.
Nevertheless, I haven't found the reason for the removal of my review.

Is the seller a professional? They may have been able to request a feedback removal for several reasons. Read what’s in this link:

OP1 year agoThanks Miss-tigri for these details.
Your link as well as Koala's first link take me to a case of inappropriate buyer behavior being the reason for a review to be removed. That's not the case, I was completely fair, I just called out the abuses and dishonesty of a seller, in the same terms as my first post. Too bad I can't provide the photos or my dialogue with the buyer, that was eloquent!
For now, I don't understand the removal of this review.
