United Kingdom delivery time
Summary: cungxuan shares their frustrating experience with a long delivery delay for a purchase made in the UK and delivered to France. Despite paying VAT and higher shipping fees than for shipments from the United States or China, delivery took 25 days. cungxuan gives the seller a neutral rating, while acknowledging that the delays are due to eBay and customs services. koalagris and francexpressdeal disagree with this neutral rating, pointing out that the seller should not be penalized for factors beyond their control. lingma85 notes that these problems are common and often linked to customs during the holiday season.
Hello,
Item sent from Nottingham, U.K on December 16, 2024, and delivered in Brittany, France, just across the channel, on January 09, 2025, so 25 days. Due to Brexit, I of course paid VAT at the time of purchase, and the shipping cost is more expensive than from China or the United States...where the delivery time is a week.
Anyway, the seller, not responsible for the delivery time, tells me that it is eBay’s international shipping center that handles the shipments, so I am waiting for explanations from eBay...
Maybe Robin Hood had diverted my package...every time I order from the U.K it’s the same problem, so this was my last order.
I’ll let you judge that for those who are tempted...

Mentor1 year agoHello @cungxuan
Your experience teaches the readers of this forum nothing...
Unfortunately, not a week goes by without several buyers complaining about the site's different delivery platforms, and for many reasons...
But since hand-holding is more important than reliability (or the courage to do your own work, without an intermediary..) many sellers respond to the call of the so-called wonderful help of this form of delivery (which allows them to scrape a few cents, but which creates multiple problems that end up costing the victimized sellers dearly... ! )
As for the delay you experienced in receiving your parcel, it would rather be due to congestion at Customs during this end-of-year period... the site should not, either, be blamed for all the ills..
Best regards
cungxuan
OP1 year agoSo I guess we have to believe that customs are reluctant when it comes to the United Kingdom, because holiday season or not, delivery times are always very long, unlike the United States or China for example, or even Japan. It was the English seller who blamed eBay. There comes a time when you have to try to make things move, it’s in the interest of the buyer, the seller, and eBay as well, business obliges. Isn't it ?

Mentor1 year agoHello @cungxuan
you say: "the seller is not responsible for the delivery time."
So why leave him a neutral rating for that same reason?
Because there you really are penalizing the seller by doing that... And even by adding "It is not the fault of the seller", that doesn't change anything... You also mention import VAT. So a neutral that targets 2 points over which the seller has no control...
koalagris
Mentor1 year agoHello,
What we’ll especially appreciate is the fact that you stuck a neutral on the seller while admitting that he isn’t responsible... 🤔
cungxuan
OP1 year agoNeutral by definition is neither positive nor negative, and clearing the seller of responsibility does not mean that I am satisfied with my transaction either.
If you have a way to improve delivery times with our close English neighbors, I think both seller and buyer would be interested.
Best regards
koalagris
Mentor1 year agoThat’s not the point, don’t mix everything up.
Slapping a neutral on the seller for a transport/customs delay (and no one has any influence over them or a miracle cure, you know that very well), and that — what's more — right in the middle of the holiday season, is as unfair as it is inconsistent...
