Report fraud
Summary: mirae137 reported fraudulent listings, where sellers on eBay offer digital books at very low prices but never deliver them, using recent profiles to avoid detection. A certain 'Caroline' seems to be linked to these scams. *miss-tigri* suggested reporting the problem directly to eBay via their help page.
Hello, I realized, after getting caught out myself, that there are dishonest listings going around. I think it’s the same person or at least the same network. You end up on their listing when searching for a physical book, but their listing shows the photo of the digital book. The price is always very low and therefore attractive, there’s no info on the seller, most of the time the profile has been open since November 2024, only the country changes. The digital book is never received and when you report it, you receive several different follow-ups that don’t have the same country of origin and are all signed by the same person, a certain Caroline. Here is an example of the link in question: [Lien]
My seller was this one and it was for the same book: [Lien]
I no longer have access to their listing.
No one seems to be reporting it, because these are small amounts. Multiplied by the number of buyers, they can end up making quite a lot of money in the end!
