Return request
Summary: crapouillot55 sold a helmet faceplate and refused the buyer's return request on the grounds that it was the wrong size, which was upheld by eBay. However, the buyer sent the item back and requested a refund. koalagris advises offering a partial refund by deducting the fees, out of conscience, and then reselling the item.
Hello everyone. I sold a spiked helmet front plate on the site on December 7, 2025. I would like to point out that the part is in good condition and that the listing included photos from different angles. The package is received by the buyer on December 18, 2025. The buyer sends me an email and a return request on 1/01/2026, reason: dimension problem. Given that the reason is not a breakage or damage as eBay requires, I refused the return, since the listing was already marked as return refused.
eBay validates this refusal and closes this tomorrow. On January 15, 2026, the buyer sends me back the purchased part and orders me to refund. Since eBay has ruled in my favor, what should I do?
Best regards
koalagris
Mentor8 months agoGood evening @crapouillot55
"Ebay having ruled in my favor, what should I do?" = as far as eBay is concerned, nothing.
That said, since you have recovered the order, you can still offer to refund the item alone (without shipping), with the site's commission fees deducted: it's just a matter of conscience.
After that you can resell it, because without a refund you won't be able to dispose of it since the item no longer belongs to you...
