Message disappeared from messaging with Seller

Hello,
I ordered products from abroad through Ebay. However, I had asked the seller questions about the second-hand items (for example, whether the photos matched the product in question and therefore whether it was indeed a lightly used second-hand product). The buyer replied to me, saying that he would really send me the same one as in the photo. In the messaging, I no longer have anything... except my messages.. weird.
However, in the messaging we can see my replies but not his... is this normal? Does Ebay keep the seller's messages?
Because I wouldn't want to have a problem (I did pay through Ebay under the terms to be able to appeal in case of that)
