I am writing to you here to explain my problem. There was an auction that was about to end and that I was going to win at a really good price.

The seller decided without warning me to cancel the bid I had placed so that I would not win it.
Is this practice allowed? Because it seems to me that the “game” of auctions is being able to sell for maybe more than the market price, but you can also “lose”. What recourse do I have?

I don't see in these conditions how the buyer can cancel if the auction won doesn't suit him ...

A seller can cancel an order in the following cases:

The buyer requests cancellation of the order and the item has not yet been shipped.
The buyer has not paid within the allotted time.
The buyer provided an incorrect shipping address when making the purchase.
The item is out of stock (this situation results in a transaction defect)

Hi,

Except that here there is no order (and therefore even less payment), since the listing was ended before the deadline (the seller will pay the eBay commission fees up to the amount of the cancelled bid).

And even if there were one: the seller could still cancel it by taking on the defect related to the transaction and refunding.

It’s the same on the buyer’s side: no one can force them to pay if they change their mind (they’ll just get a defect for non-payment).

In short, let’s repeat it: NO recourse... move on to something else.

You haven’t lost anything other than time, so might as well not lose any more.

This seller would have been better off setting a higher starting price.
