Auction
Summary: aster2901 expresses frustration about last-second bidding wars in auctions, having lost several times despite high bids. lingma85 replies by explaining several possible scenarios, such as the use of a "snipper" or other bidder strategies, while pointing out that sometimes an item just isn't meant to be. lingma85 encourages aster2901 not to get discouraged, since other opportunities will come up.
Hello! Could you explain to me how it is possible, during bidding, when a bid is very, very far above the last bid, in the last seconds, 12 - 10, or less... with a clearly different decimal, that a higher bid wins with, sometimes the same decimal, and plus €1 or less...... This has happened to me many times.... discouraged,!!!!! because it makes one wonder whether the new bidder does not know about my bid..... or preference....
Thank you for your reply.
Kind regards.

Mentor2 years agoHello @aster2901
Several possibilities------->
- a coincidence that may not be a coincidence...
- a sniper who carefully orchestrated their bid in order to win it...
- a bidder who placed a very high bid, then withdrew it, and finally bid with the right decimal point...
- etc... (I include in this "etc".... the shill bidders who can also come into play, although they are forbidden...)
All possibilities are conceivable...
But, be aware that if you lost the auction, it means the item was not meant for you.
Don’t have any regrets... you’ll find another item, another day... and it may be yours...
