Winning bids and absent seller
Summary: stwil-5065 shares his concern about not being able to pay for his eBay purchases immediately because of the seller’s temporary absence, with whom he usually bundles his orders to save on shipping costs. The other participants advise keeping an eye on eBay’s automatic opening of non-payment disputes, while expressing surprise that the seller did not inform bidders before leaving. Some also point out the risk of late-delivery disputes if buyers are not warned in advance.
Good evening everyone,
I regularly win auctions from one of my top sellers on Ebay. I usually send him a message to combine all the items I’ve won so I can avoid paying shipping fees charged on each item.
The seller is currently away on vacation for about ten days, and here’s my situation:
I keep winning auctions that he had scheduled. We agreed that I would pay for everything when he gets back (which will allow him to group all my purchases and send them to me in a single shipment).
Unfortunately, Ebay keeps reminding me regularly that I need to pay for my purchases asap because I have to honor my commitment. Which is understandable. But that makes me wonder: can payment actually remain pending for more than ten days (the time it takes for the seller to come back from vacation and pack my purchases), or is there a maximum time limit not to exceed?
I suppose the seller would have warned me about this drawback (he's a pro seller), but still, this question keeps tormenting me 🤔
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read and reply,
William

·2 years agoHello,
if the seller has left, they must have scheduled their sales.
Check the estimated latest delivery date.
You cannot wait 10 days before payment.
Settle your purchases within 4 days.
Best regards.

If the seller hasn’t set up automatic dispute opening for non-payment, there’s no problem waiting for his return.
However, I do agree that it’s rather rude of the seller to let buyers bid without warning them of his absence... (especially for a professional 😕)
Have a good evening

indeed, for a professional seller, that's really pretty lax!
Have a good evening.

Mentor2 years agoNot to mention the defects for late delivery and the risk of disputes for non-receipt that he is exposing himself to with buyers who will pay for their purchase right away... he shouldn't be surprised later if his account gets restricted... 😱

Mentor2 years agoGood evening @stwil-5065
eBay reminders are just automatic messages.
The main thing is that no dispute for non-payment has been opened.
What’s strange is that a professional seller goes on vacation without bothering to put their account into away mode... 🤔

OP2 years agoHe himself suggested that I switch to payment upon his return via Ebay messaging. So I suppose I don't risk any non-payment dispute 😬
Thanks for your prompt response,

Mentor2 years ago"I suppose then that I’m not at risk of any non-payment dispute" = hoping he didn’t set up his account to automatically open disputes, as already said, or else that he remembered to disable it before leaving...
