HERMES GERMANY ERROR WHY DO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE CONSEQUENCES?
Summary: Anonymous User shared a frustrating experience where a parcel sent to Germany via eBay Packlink and Mondial Relay was swapped because of a labelling error by Hermes, leading to a dispute and a refund to the buyer, paid by Anonymous User. Despite filing a claim with Packlink, he received no satisfactory response and is considering closing his eBay account. koalagris responded by confirming that the problem is common and recommends avoiding Mondial Relay for shipments to Germany.
Good evening,
I want to draw your attention to a mishap that infuriates me.
I sold and shipped an item to GERMANY using the EBAY PACKLINK service via MONDIAL RELAY.
During the delivery process, when the parcel arrives in Germany, HERMES, the local carrier, sticks its own label over the MONDIAL RELAY one.
In my case, the HERMES label was placed on a parcel that was not mine.
You can guess the rest, the buyer therefore received something that had nothing to do with the transaction.
And so they opened a dispute.
I contact eBay support, who tell me to file a claim with EBAY PACKLINK.
Which I do, providing photos of the parcel received by the buyer, in particular a view where you can still see part of the original label where the sender and the parcel weight do not match.
ZERO NEWS from EBAY PACKLINK, however EBAY decided to reimburse the buyer by taking the reimbursement cost out of my pocket. That's quite something... So I pay for HERMES's incompetence? Besides, my German buyer, with 1235 transactions, told me he couldn't take that incompetent company anymore.
Who is going to reimburse me? Should I try something with my legal protection?
Or should I settle for my 45€, the price of my mental health in the face of this outright theft?

OP1 year agoThanks for your message!
It’s the first time I’ve had an issue and, using eBay’s services from A to Z, shipping included, I didn’t think I’d end up so alone in case something went wrong!
Given the level of commission, that’s pretty hard to understand.
I don’t want to start an argument; when you’re not happy, you take your business elsewhere.
So I’m going to close my eBay account after all these years, oh well.
No way I’m going to keep fattening the beast at my expense 🙂
Have a good evening and good luck!

Just for info, the latest testimonial on this subject dates from the day before yesterday:

No solution to offer you unfortunately, we can only note that it's better to avoid MR for Germany... 😕
Kind regards
