Summary: er2416 shares their experience of being scammed on eBay by accidentally ordering a ticket for a different event than they thought. After trying to cancel the transaction quickly, they were told by eBay that cancellation wasn’t possible. *miss-tigri* advises requesting a return for an item not as described and considering a dispute through PayPal if necessary. er2416 plans to report the incident to the DGCCRF.
victim of a scam: ambiguity in the sale of a 24h Le Mans 2025 ticket, but it was actually a ticket for the 2024 event.. (you had to zoom in on the ticket photo to realize it) I canceled after checking, only 3 minutes after ordering and paying via paypal.
ebay told me they were investigating, 3 days later they informed me that they couldn't cancel the sale because the cancellation deadline had passed.. (3 minutes !)
impossible to talk with the **bleep**; impossible to talk with ebay, impossible to ask them for the contact details of the "seller" so that I can assert my rights before the courts,
so I am forced to consider that ebay is complicit with the **bleep**.
overall, in all the help topics for communicating with ebay, there isn't a single item covering a possible scam, as if that never happens.
I hadn't set foot on ebay since 2002... they're not likely to see me again..
in the meantime I am going to report all this to the DGCCRF..

If the seller ships the tickets, you’ll need to file a return request for an item not as described.
If that doesn’t work, you open a dispute on PayPal, but only if the dispute is closed by ebay; otherwise it will be closed automatically.
