Negative review for a seller, removed (?!!?)
Summary: The discussion is about the removal of a negative review left by vanill** for a seller on eBay. vanill** is disappointed that the feedback disappeared without notification, despite the negative experience involving a package left at their door by UPS, and despite the seller’s refusal to share the loss costs. They also express frustration about another experience where eBay seems to favor the seller, despite questionable practices, and fear that buyers are at a disadvantage on the platform. *miss-tigri* explains that eBay can remove feedback if the seller proves that the carrier is responsible for the problem.
Hello,
Is it normal for a negative rating for a Seller to have disappeared from their profile?
This while he himself admitted that the UPS package, which was supposed to be handed over in person, had been left in front of my door, which opened onto the street (UPS photo to back it up)? This while two Ebay and Paypal disputes were opened by me (absurd conclusion: "Package delivered"! UPS conducted an investigation for "lost package" without however taking responsibility for its failure in this "delivery"?
This negative rating, very fair in its wording, was to warn other buyers that this seller (Username [Username]) : 1/ had refused at the time of shipping, despite my explicit request, to insure the contents - €440, never had I spent such a sum on Ebay in 17 years ! 2/ had refused to take part in compensation (I suggested splitting the loss 50/50, so €220 each, which seemed fair to me).
Why did Ebay make this red rating disappear without notifying me?
Why am I now forbidden to leave another one?
I haven't found anywhere to get what I see as a complete injustice corrected, after losing €440... !
Thank you in advance to anyone who would be willing to advise me.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoThank you very much for your reply, *miss-tigri*.
Unfortunately, I’ve just had, in 17 years of eBay, a second bad experience with a seller who 1/ deliberately omitted important details in his listing (refer to the photos, he said, even though he’s the one who has the item in hand) 2/ deliberately gave a vague answer when I asked for clarification 3/ stated that he accepted returns at the buyer’s expense, then refused it afterward, since thanks to that, I took the risk of having the item in my hands... Result: return request refused by the seller, then refused twice by eBay! I only got my case won through Paypal.
So I note that eBay outrageously favors its sellers, even dishonest ones, despite its rules, to the detriment of buyers. It’s a cruel discovery.

Mentor2 years agoAnd yes, sadly ...
No sellers = no sales = no commission on the sales that go into the site's cash register 😉

Mentor2 years agoHello
If the seller proves that it’s the carrier and not him who is responsible for the loss and therefore for the bad feedback received, he can request its removal from eBay ..
What eBay says:
In certain cases, we may remove or edit feedback. To learn more, check our seller performance policy and defect removal policy.
