Funds blocked
Summary: toinus83 shared his experience on eBay, where after finally being able to enter the details of his new bank account, he found that his payments were on hold, one for 10 days and the other for a month. He expressed his frustration with this situation, especially since he discovered that the buyers’ profiles seemed suspicious. max2661953 advised him to cancel the sales. Following his own research, toinus83 clarified the automatic hold process for new sellers and decided to remove his listings and delete his eBay account, criticizing the platform’s funds management system.
I've been a Member on Ebay for 15 years, during which time I've only ever bought things.
It's my first time on the blog so forgive me if I write a novel…
About 3 weeks ago, I put various items up for sale on Ebay...my first experience as a seller.
I just had one little “issue” with the bank account details for receiving payments… my “new” bank being more than suspicious about money transfers coming from the internet.. to solve this problem I had to open a new account dedicated only to receiving payments received via Ebay.. (thanks SG 🫣🤐)
Anyway.. Last week I received two offers that I accepted.
I was finally able to enter the details of my new account yesterday on my account so I could receive the funds and then send the items.. except that yesterday Ebay informed me that it had blocked the two payments, one for 10 days and the other for a full month… and above all it asks me to send the items to the buyers as quickly as possible.😳
So, first question:
Is it normal for Ebay to block payments for so long without even giving me an explanation, when I (finally) gave them my IBAN yesterday??
And finally, second question:
What am I supposed to do??!! HELP!! To top it all off I tried to check the buyers' profiles… impossible to find on Ebay… one has an account in Mexico but a shipping address in Italy. and the other has an account in the USA but a shipping address in Thailand.. that smells a bit like a scam, doesn't it??😩😂
Thanks in advance for your advice and sorry again for the novel.
😉

OP2 years agoI went through the blog and read the various discussions about my « issue » with funds being blocked.. explanation found, thank you bloggers. I’m a new seller.. automatic 14-day hold.. release of funds by Ebay if the seller provides proof of shipment, receipt by the buyer, and feedback.. in short it’s very clear… Ebay forces new sellers to ship the goods without even having been paid and without even being sure to be paid at the very least 2 weeks later, and on top of that by demanding proof from the seller before giving him HIS money that they’re holding onto … that’s just huge !!… if that’s what being e-merchants is, then count me out!! Immediate removal of listings and blocking of sales fee payments.
Small thought.. the last one and I’m done.. with all these systematic and arbitrary fund holds imposed on new sellers.. or even on older ones, under the pretext of a “bank data update” following unexpected “crashes” of Ebay servers.,… ( foolproof excuse, well played!!) that must make millions passing through and staying on Ebay’s account.. for periods ranging from a few days to even several weeks… add to that the deduction of sales fees taken from sellers before they’ve even been paid themselves… ( might as well pay yourself right away, no? we’re not going to deprive ourselves now🫣🤐) in short… that must generate quite a bit of interest per day and per week in the end, all these sums held hostage and accumulated from blocked funds, and which remain at Ebay’s whim in “stand-by” on their account(s) right ???!!?!
But no.. . I’m rambling… I’m being nasty.. sorry.. not in France..😳🙌🏻🤨😂
And again sorry for the novel volume 2. That was the last one.🤬😤🫣😉
«Welcome to Ebay !! Or how to take the butter, the butter money, and let’s not forget to take the dairymaid’s ass too, while we’re at it!! » bravo, nice lesson in commerce 🤨🙁😶🤐🤯👎🏻

·2 years agoHello, @toinus83 ,
As a new seller, your payments are blocked for a while.
Your 2 sales indeed do not look good. It would be better for you to cancel them.
