Customs clearance fees by the carrier
I think I'm going to stop doing business with Ebay. Twice I received an order from the UK with exorbitant customs clearance fees from the carrier **bleep** (La Poste and UPS). €15 for an item worth €25.
These fees are illegal, but Ebay does nothing. You can refuse the package, but then you lose the €20 shipping fee.
Bottom line, the best thing is to stop dealing with the UK and Ebay.

Mentor2 years ago" the best " is above all to at least find out a bit about the current customs regulations when you shop outside the EU ...

OP2 years agoHello,
Thanks for the help.
What would really be good is if the seller knew how the delivery works because according to the current rules, you can only be charged tax for a purchase from outside the EC if the value of the purchase exceeds €50. In my case, the value was €30. In addition, VAT had already been paid. But some carriers (UPS, La Poste) allow themselves to demand customs clearance fees (€14 in my case) as if you took a taxi and, upon reaching your destination, the driver **bleep** asked you, on top of the fare already paid, for an extra sum for tolls and fuel. In short, cheapskates, swindlers and crooks. When you buy new on Ebay, you should have the total cost at the time of accepting and confirming the order. If you add a "tax" once the product has arrived at its destination, I call that extortion.
