Shipping costs included in the amounts received
Summary: jicky24 wonders whether shipping fees are included in the €3,000 annual earnings amount for private sellers, even though they aren't actually received. *miss-tigri* explains that eBay reports the gross sales amount, including shipping fees, before any deductions. jicky24 expresses surprise at this practice and feels that it could discourage selling.
Hello,
I have a question and I haven't found the answer.
I read that private sellers, which I am one of, cannot exceed €3000 in earnings per year.
So I took my financial statements since January and I was surprised to find, in the amounts received from my sales, the shipping fees. I do receive them, but of course, I pass them on to the post office. It still adds up to a certain amount.
Do they count toward the €3000 since it's money I don't actually keep?
Thank you if you can shed some light on this for me.

Mentor3 years agoHello
Yes ,eBay reports the GROSS amount of your sales (item price + shipping fees) BEFORE deducting fees.It seems to me that canceled transactions (paid then refunded) are also included in the total .....

OP3 years agoHello and thanks for your reply.
I find it pretty unbelievable that Ebay is declaring amounts that we don't receive.
It doesn't really make you want to sell anymore ....
