Buyer fraud
Summary: rmyf4993 shared a frustrating experience on eBay where they sold a watch for 600 euros. Although the buyer confirmed receipt of the item, two months later they opened a dispute, claiming they didn’t recognize the transaction, which led eBay to block 600 euros. francexpressdeal asked whether the dispute had been challenged or accepted, and explained that the final decision in such cases depends on the buyer’s bank, not eBay.
In March 2025 I sold a watch for 600 euros to an eBay profile.
Through eBay messaging, I ask for confirmation of the delivery address mentioned on the buyer’s profile to
the buyer.
The buyer confirms the delivery address to me.
eBay informs me that the payment has been received.
I send the watch via Colissimo.
A few days later, eBay indicates the parcel was delivered.
The buyer tells me he received the watch.
Two months later, the buyer opens a dispute saying he does not recognize the transaction.
eBay blocks 600 euros from me.
This Saturday, July 19, eBay informs me that the bank on the eBay profile confirms that the payment is not ‘recognized’.
eBay sends 600 euros back to the buyer.
Is there anyone among you who has been scammed in the same way???
The story seems surreal to me, when I discovered how far eBay does not protect its sellers.
I have been on this site for 19 years.
More than 300 transactions. 1 dispute in 19 years.
What do you think ???
Thanks in advance
Regards

Mentor1 year agoHello @rmyf4993
when the payment dispute was opened, you could either contest it or accept it. Which did you choose?
What you need to understand about a payment dispute is that it's not ebay that decides the outcome, but the buyer's bank.
