Two-factor login identification (SMS code)
Summary: oscar51 explained a problem with receiving SMS messages for two-factor verification on eBay after entering his login details. Although he contacted customer service to temporarily disable this option and manage to log in, he is unable to turn it back on. lingma85 suggested securing the computer rather than re-enabling two-factor authentication. oscar51 emphasized the importance of this security measure, especially in the event of a hack. lingma85 acknowledged the value of these security measures while noting the complications they can cause and suggested limiting internet use for private matters.
For the past few days, many of us have been facing this problem:
We no longer receive SMS ( CODE ) ,after entering our username and password. So, it’s impossible to log in to our account !!!
I "Work" on a PC and not on the mobile app.
I managed to reach customer service and the person on the other end disabled the two-factor verification option.I can now access my account......
But it’s impossible for me to reactivate this security option, because to do so,eBay has to send us an SMS (Code) to identify my mobile phone .But here we go again,I don't receive any SMS !!!!
I tried this procedure on Chrome and Microsoft Edge.....Same thing. This is therefore not a browser problem.
All personal information is correct,in my account settings.
Thank you
And best wishes !!!
Best regards (-_-)

It seems that too much security kills security .... see the difficulties here------> Search - eBay Community
You say---> " I managed to reach customer service and the person on the other end disabled the two-factor verification option. I can now access my account......"
It would be better to leave things as they are and rather secure your PC with a password, or a code, if needed.

OP2 years agoHello lingma85
You say :
" It would be better to leave things as they are and rather secure your PC with a password, or a code, if needed. "
My PC is secured with a password made up of 28 characters, including some fairly special characters. Without this password, no real person will be able to log in to it.
I don't see the link with two-factor authentication: sending a 6-digit temporary code by SMS to my mobile phone.....This two-factor authentication is a very good thing for the security of your various accounts. Banks, for our online transactions, use it too !!
For example, if your Ebay account is hacked (or if the site itself suffers a full-scale attack), a hacker will have no difficulty tracing back to many personal details stored on your PC, despite the highly sophisticated login password for it.
Best regards 😊

Everything you say is true....
but when you are mired in impossible situations trying to use your machine .... uh... you must certainly hate these multiple layered security measures...
The best protection is perhaps to use the internet as little as possible for all that concerns your private life and for that you need to know how to compartmentalize... but that's another topic..
Kind regards and also wishes for a Happy New Year.
