Enough with the dishonest sellers/buyers
Summary: smarc68 expresses their frustration with eBay, calling for reforms to better protect honest buyers, including tying card debits to the receipt of compliant orders. They also propose a permanent ban for dishonest users. francexpressdeal responds by questioning the feasibility of the suggested system, pointing out that a reporting system already exists and highlighting the challenges posed by how easily accounts can be recreated. They also justify the need for sellers to know buyers' contact details, while explaining the disclosure obligations for professional sellers.
Conversely, eBay should also do what’s necessary to protect honest sellers from dishonest, bad-faith buyers.
eBay should also take the necessary steps so that any buyer or seller on its site who is clearly acting in bad faith is PERMANENTLY banned from eBay, with no way back.
I’m fed up with eBay making a lot of money every year on all transactions carried out on its site, but washing its hands of things when there’s a problem.
Lastly, as always, sellers know everything about buyers (first name, last name, postal address, email, phone number, etc.), whereas we buyers KNOW NOTHING about the sellers we’re trying to do business with for the first time.
eBay is a very great invention which, in my case, allows me to buy items exclusively or almost exclusively second-hand that, without the existence of eBay, I would not have been able to obtain.
So, thank you eBay but, please, clean house!

"I would like us honest buyers on eBay to put pressure on eBay so that our credit cards are only charged when we have received our orders and they are actually in line with the items described in the listing."
In concrete terms, how do you want such a system to be put in place? Because if it’s the buyer’s feedback that confirms everything is okay, I can tell you sellers won’t be getting paid anytime soon!
One could imagine a system that automatically validates the transaction after a certain amount of time. The payment system put in place in 2021 has already driven away quite a few sellers. Those who stayed are not going to (on top of everything else) wait a month to get paid.
"eBay should also take the necessary steps so that any buyer or seller on its site who is clearly acting in bad faith is DEFINITIVELY banned from eBay"
There are tools that let you report problems. You still have to use them. Otherwise, eBay can’t guess that a buyer or seller is causing issues. If you’re posting, it’s because you must have run into quite a few problems. Yet that doesn’t show at all in the feedback you’ve left.
In any case, keep in mind that even if a buyer is banned from the site, they can create a new account in 1 minute...

It’s pretty logical that sellers have your contact details if you want to receive your order. As a buyer, you’ll have the contact details of professional sellers because that’s required. Now, what would you need a private seller’s details for?
