In July 2026 I bought a hi-fi product on eBay from a German guy. With PayPal. What I received does not match the description or the photos: very big, deep scratches and a front full of damage. The seller is tampering with his photos using AI.
I’m asking for a return with a prepaid label. I provided the proof photos; I asked the seller for a prepaid label.
eBay leaves this as the option: the seller states that he accepts the return and has provided what’s needed for the return.
And that’s false: the seller only gives his address in Germany, and asks for my bank details to pay the return shipping costs.
But from the start I’ve been asking for a prepaid label, and I don’t want to give my bank details to a crook.
I waited six days, and I don’t see any option to ask eBay to interveneˋ;
They’re just asking me to provide a return tracking number, and that’s it.
How can I demand a prepaid label; the seller doesn’t want to do anything else, it’s no longer possible to call eBay. The eBay chat and email links don’t work.
What should I do to get my free prepaid return label from eBay
PayPal no longer reimburses return shipping costs.

You are being "nice" with your demands...
but a return label issued in Germany will not be used by a carrier in France... and this seller knows it..
They are asking for your IBAN/BIC to advance you the cost of this return label...
why are you refusing...???
That's inconsistent... !!
You'd be better off accepting the money or paying the return costs yourself in view of your refund...
otherwise the deadlines get shorter and you risk having to do without eBay's help... and having to keep your purchase...
In conclusion... it's up to you to decide where your best interest lies.

would you give your bank details to a scammer? he can refund to my PayPal account.
my question is how to ask eBay for a pre-paid label.

As for your fear... a few explanations wouldn't hurt------>
What are the real risks of giving out your IBAN?!
On the other hand, unless I'm mistaken... eBay doesn't sell anything and therefore.. I don't see how eBay could provide you with this "prepaid label" that you're asking for... especially right now.. when AI is running rampant...
For a payment by PayPal... this seller also needs to have a PayPal account..
have you asked them...?
Now, either you send it... or you keep it..
that will be your choice.
