I sent the item that was stolen from me by mail
Summary: jeanpierredaniel56 expresses frustration because an item sent via La Poste never arrived at its destination, but eBay refunded the buyer by taking the full amount, including the fee. koalagris explains that eBay has to refund when the buyer does not receive the product and that the claim should be made to La Poste. jeanpierredaniel56 replies that eBay did not return the full amount without the fee. *miss-tigri* suggests checking whether a credit for the fees is possible on eBay. The debate continues over responsibility for the commission fees and the site's terms of use.
I sent the item I bought by post as a tracked letter. The tracking clearly shows that the shipment left the departure platform but never arrived at its destination. The post office steals mail. Ebay steals my money by taking back the full sale price but keeping its commission, it's disgraceful. Sale price 6.87 + postage 1.90 = 8.77 euro. Ebay paid me 7.50 euro. I paid the tracked stamp 1.76 that I printed at home + 1 bubble envelope + my trip to the post office, so about 5.00 euro left. Ebay takes back 8.77 euro from me, that is the full amount paid by the recipient, why? I lost my item, the price of the stamp, etc.. Ebay lost nothing, did nothing and is taking money illegally. It's a disgrace. No more sales for me on ebay, no more purchases through ebay. I will deal directly with the sellers. There is no longer any question of fattening up thieves, they will NEVER get a cent from me again. I don't want to hear about them anymore. From now on, if I have an item to sell, I will put it on **bleep**.

In case of loss, the seller reimburses the buyer and turns against the carrier, so it’s up to you to file a claim with the postal service (for a tracked letter, needless to say the compensation will be insufficient, that’s the problem with this shipping method).

OP2 years agook except that I didn't receive 8.77 euro from ebay, but 7.50 euro! Why not take back 7.50 euro and return the commission collected illegally! Ebay washes its hands of it, that's way too easy. You, the pro-ebay one, your turn will come and we'll see if you'll still be 100% for ebay!

Only now discovering the site since 2015?
There's no need to be for or against it: these are the Terms of Use, take it or leave it, everyone is free to sell wherever they want...
Best of luck

You're right to mention it because the seller didn't specify whether they initiated the refund themselves or whether eBay had to step in to do it (in that second case, the commission fees are due).
Have a nice Sunday 🙂
