I paid the VAT through eBay and UPS is asking me to pay it again
Hello,
I bought a product in the USA, eBay charged me 20% VAT (€66) via the payment method, UPS is asking me to pay VAT again + advance fees for having paid the customs charges on my behalf (€89)...
What should I do?

OP1 year agoI confirm that I contacted eBay customer service and there is a link at the bottom of the help page that allows you to request a refund of the overpayment by providing proof (excerpt from the page):
Double payment of VAT
If VAT was charged to you a second time by the carrier for the delivery of your goods, contact eBay using the link below and provide proof of the double payment. The VAT charged by eBay on the original transaction can then be refunded to you
Request a VAT refund
To request a VAT refund on a completed order, log in and upload proof of excess payment.
Name of the help page in question "Pay taxes on purchases made on eBay". The right section at the bottom of the page.

Mentor1 year agoHello
If you have paid VAT twice, you can request a refund from eBay ( see the link previously posted by @koalagris hello👋)

VAT and customs are 2 separate things...

OP2 years agoSure, but the import tax is around 4%; when they ask you for more than 25%, VAT is included
