I can't see my categories
Summary: bourgogne-amazigh started a discussion about the visibility of categories in their online shop, wondering whether they would only appear after adding items. lingma85 explained that categories are only visible when listings are posted in them. francexpressdeal suggested checking the settings to make sure that 'shop categories' are selected instead of eBay categories, which won't affect visibility or sales. After some back and forth, bourgogne-amazigh decided to change the settings to make them visible, thanking the community for its support.
I created my little pro shop, I created featured categories because apparently I had no choice. I created several other categories and their subcategories but I don't see them when I go to my shop.
Maybe they'll only show up once I've put items up for sale in them?
Thanks for your help 🙏🕊️

Mentor3 years agoHello @bourgogne-amazigh
I looked at your shop and I saw....
the 1st category ------> "books, comics and magazines" " ---//--- with 2 subcategories----> "antique books" and ... "American comic books and graphic novels"
then a 2nd category-----> "arts and antiques" but without subcategories...
Shop categories are only visible when the listings placed there are published, but not before.
Kind regards

OP3 years agoYet I created 17 categories, some with subcategories, which makes 41 categories. For example, I just created 6 auction-format listings, of war magazines, I thought that would therefore show my Militaria category and its subcategory, magazines, journals. But nothing visible. I took screenshots, but unfortunately there are no buttons for sending you images in this discussion. Yann

Mentor3 years agoHello @bourgogne-amazigh
you say you created categories for your store, but when we look, it’s the eBay categories that appear.
In your store management settings, have you selected " store category " ?

OP3 years agoHello 🙂 🙂
So, I actually took a screenshot of what you're saying because I started wondering if that might be it 😉
Right now I'm in the eBay category, because that seemed logical to me since I'm on eBay 😃
I wanted to change it, but it warned me that if I changed it, I would lose all the photos of I don't know what anymore, so I gave up 😐
So could you help me understand what the difference is and the possible impact on my sales and/or visibility?
thanksss🌻

there is absolutely no impact on your sales and/or your visibility since this only concerns the presentation of your shop.
Some sellers simply prefer to create their own category for better readability. (eBay categories can quickly become catch-all categories)
It's up to you to decide based on what you're going to sell. eBay categories may be perfectly sufficient.

OP3 years agogood evening, you're super cool, and everyone in the community as always 🙂
so I'm going to click on "store category" because on "ebay category", it was only offering me these two featured categories " books and antiques " I had no other possible category function so there you go, I'm going to keep it as simple as possible for myself and ...
I wish you all lots of good vibes .
