Letter sent to Belgium returned
Summary: langenfeld7 shared a selling experience in Belgium where the tracked letter was returned because the address was considered incomplete. Several participants, including max2661953, francois-o, francexpressdeal, and madelodie, advised refunding the buyer to avoid problems with eBay. francexpressdeal suggested checking the tracking on the Belgian post office website for more information. langenfeld7 hopes to recover the shipping costs and mentions that the address may have been damaged during delivery.
Hello, I made a sale in Belgium.
I sent the tracked letter, and a few days later, I see in the tracking that the letter was returned to me.
The useless French post office is telling me to deal with the Belgian post office.
So I ask the buyer, but he replies just to refund him.
I have a photo of the letter and he confirmed that the address is correct, I just put the street number in front instead of after, but he didn't even point it out to me, so I suppose it doesn't matter (makes sense really, but still).
What do you advise? Knowing that the letter can very well take weeks before arriving.

OP2 years agoIt just says: Unknown destination, unfortunately.
The letter may have been damaged during sending and the address has become illegible, that's still a possibility.
To be seen.

OP2 years agoThanks for the replies. The reason for return: incomplete address.
In itself, no problem refunding the buyer, I’d just like to get the postage back if I’m not the one at fault. But I can’t contact bpost because I don’t have an international plan.
I’m going to wait a few days to see if the letter arrives quickly.

For Bpost, I just told you to enter your tracking on their site to get any additional info, not to call them.
Now, if the reason is "incomplete address", normally the buyer is not covered by the eBay customer guarantee:
On Belgian Post tracking, they sometimes show the delivery address (it's not systematic).
See if that's the case so you can compare it with the address given by your buyer.
If it matches, then the problem really comes from the address they gave you.

·2 years agoHello ,
Just so you know, whether the buyer has received this letter or not, apparently he is not interested in the product ...
In any case, it is known that a tracked letter is not reliable since it is not scanned at the delivery stages .
As you were advised, refund the buyer .
Regards.

Mentor2 years agoHello @langenfeld7
what exactly is the reason for the return?
If the information is incomplete on the French postal site, update your tracking on the Belgian postal site:
https://track.bpost.cloud/btr/web/#/home?lang=fr
In parallel, check this help link on the site, because depending on the reason for the return, your buyer is not covered by the eBay guarantee:
https://www.ebay.fr/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/rglement-de-la-garantie-client-ebay?id=4210&st=3&pos=1&query=R%C3%A8glement%20de%20la%20Garantie%20client%20eBay&intent=garantie&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1238#specialcoverage-inr

Hello @langenfeld7 ,
Indeed, @max2661953 is right, since the buyer hasn’t received their order, you’ll need to issue a refund.
Otherwise, in the event of a dispute, since the tracking doesn’t confirm delivery, eBay will rule in the buyer’s favor. If eBay steps in to resolve the dispute, that will have a negative impact on your seller performance.
Best regards
François
