Dispute for allegedly not received item
Summary: xav15 shares a negative experience on eBay where, after shipping an item to England, the buyer claimed not to have received it, leading to a refund from eBay. Although tracking showed successful delivery two months later, the buyer still claims not to have received the item despite paying customs duties. lingma85 advises accepting the loss and moving on, since it is unlikely that eBay will step in to help the seller.
Good evening!
I made a sale more than two months ago. The buyer, English, paid, I shipped the item immediately. A week later, while the item was still in transit to England according to the tracking, the buyer opened a dispute for item not received. Then eBay closed the dispute and refunded the buyer, deducting the amount in question from me after the usual delay, the item still having not arrived.
After two months, the item was delivered! The tracking shows "item delivered". The buyer tells me he paid the customs fees, but that he received nothing... I suspect he's being dishonest, since you usually pay the customs fees at the time the item is delivered.
How can I in turn open a dispute and be compensated? I couldn't find anything on the eBay site...
Thanks in advance for your help.

You can't really say that eBay protects sellers all that much ...

Ebay won't be of any help...
Besides, it seems your buyer has a good dose of bad faith...
In short... Don't get your hopes up.
- you won't recover anything from this failed transaction...
Forget it and move on... that's still the best thing you can do (hoping the lost amount isn't too high..) in the face of the ups and downs of selling online...
