messages suspects
Summary: happycoeur, a pro seller, received suspicious messages in November 2025 that seemed to be automated compliments about their items, coming from recent accounts with no ratings. They suspect an attempted scam and reported these messages to eBay. lingma85 confirmed this risk and advised blocking these usernames, mentioning that during the Christmas period, situations like this can multiply. In response, happycoeur thanked them for the advice and blocked the usernames involved.
Hello, I am a professional seller.
Since the beginning of November 2025, I have received almost identical messages from 2 different usernames.
Each time, it’s a compliment about an item: a username recently registered in France, with no feedback, but with a mysterious compliment in English ("this item is very beautiful"), automatically translated by eBay into "this item is very pretty". Just that sentence.
It looks like an attempt to make contact for a scam. Have you also had to deal with this kind of message, innocent-looking but very strange?
I didn’t reply, as a precaution, and I reported it to eBay.

Indeed, your feeling is right.
Put these usernames on your block list--> https://www.ebay.fr/bmgt/BuyerBlock?
The Christmas period is a good time to see this kind of person pop up on sales sites..
Also be careful with returns that will happen after the holidays.. some people are fans of free loans at sellers' expense.
- be attentive to the profiles of the usernames that contact you.
Best regards
happycoeur
OP10 months agoThanks for your reply. So I blocked these usernames.
As if sales weren’t already dropping year after year. All these scam attempts are a pain.
