"The package was refused on delivery" = a serious mistake, since refusing delivery is a customer guarantee exclusion on eBay

In this case, you have to accept the package, THEN make a return request.
"So the carrier sent it back to you automatically" = the carrier sent it back to the sender (so to the seller), since eBay doesn’t sell anything (it’s only a matching platform), not to mention that you’re posting here on the forum between users (you’re not contacting customer service).
So all that’s left for you is to sort it out directly with the seller, because there’s no recourse through the site. Too bad you didn’t come to the forum sooner......
