Item not received
Summary: bookbroc expresses frustration after a customer said they never received a book even though it had been shipped. Without proof of shipment, eBay refunded the customer. *miss-tigri* and koalagris advise using tracked shipping in the future to avoid such problems, highlighting the risk of sending items without tracking and suggesting organizing sales into lots to cover the costs.
Hello,
One of my customers says he did not receive his book, which I did indeed post with my return address in case the post office returned it.
As a matter of authority, Ebay refunds my customer for an item not shipped because I do not have proof of sending the book. It should be said that the postage costs were only a few euros and so I do not have tracking.
In the end, am I the one who has to bear the post office's failures?
The customer would not have accepted that I charge the tracking fees for an item worth €2...
So I am annoyed by this Ebay decision.
Thank you for your opinions.
Regards,
koalagris
Mentor2 years agoHello @bookbroc
That’s perfectly normal since nothing proves the shipment or the receipt.
Never ever send without tracking: you will be required to refund ALL buyers who claim an order was not received, so proceed at your own risk.
"The customer wouldn’t have accepted that I charge the tracking fees for an item worth €2" = It’s better not to sell than to give your items away...
(For low prices, also think about making lots, because with the fixed fees of €0.35 what do you even have left once the fees are deducted?)
So protect yourself, and remember to edit your current listings to require tracked shipping.
Best regards

Mentor2 years agoHello
Without tracking, how do you expect to prove your good faith? And why blame the post office?
Charge for a tracked letter at the very least next time..
