Item not received after several months
Summary: germain-lab explained that they had ordered an item in England, which was never received because of an error with the address provided by the post office. I had ordered an item in England from a private seller at the beginning of December 2025 and it was supposed to be delivered to me in mid-December 2025 but for no reason, the postman's mail service decided to send my package back, supposedly because the address written on it was incorrect.
I therefore later contacted the seller to ask him whether he had received the package or not and he replied, at the beginning of January after several follow-ups from me, that no, he had not received anything.
I therefore contacted the mail service to find out more, I got an email from the mail service telling me that indeed, the package had been returned by mistake and that it was supposed to arrive at the seller's in mid-January.
As of today, 07 MAY 2026, the seller still hasn't received anything and I have no idea where my package is because all I get are automatic emails from the mail service whenever I want more information from them.
The seller doesn't really seem to want to help me find where the package could be, in my opinion it's in a warehouse somewhere in France that acts as an intermediary between packages coming from England and that have to be delivered in France.
Since I don't know ebay very well, I didn't know that we only had 30 days after the estimated delivery date to report the item as not received. I had wanted to sort this out directly with the seller (except he took a long time to reply to me, as did the mail service) and so today I find myself without my package and without my money...
Is there a way for Ebay to help us find my package?

As you’ve noticed, ebay only steps in within the 30 days after the delivery deadline, and only to force a refund by taking the funds back from the seller, nothing else.
See whether you have any recourse with your payment provider.
(on paypal, for example, the dispute period is 180 days from the payment date)

First of all, thank you for your reply!
Unfortunately, I didn't know eBay's rules at the time, so I wanted to sort things out myself by asking the post office and asking the seller to look into it.
Except that the 30 days went by very quickly and so I got taken in...
I paid by PayPal, so I'm going to try to file a dispute.
