Requirement to register a bank card on one's eBay account.
Summary: quadrouge510 expressed concerns about the need to register a bank card on eBay, since he had previously used PayPal for his transactions. *miss-tigri* explained that registering a bank account is necessary to receive payments. koalagris suggested that commission fees might be the reason eBay is asking for a card to be registered. quadrouge510 confirmed that he could contact eBay for clarification and thanked the participants for their advice.
Hello,
Recently, I sold an item that, incidentally, had just sold on another site... I was able to cancel the sale, but Ebay keeps hounding me to register a bank card, even though up until now my sales and purchases had always been done through Paypal!
In fact, for more than 10 or 15 years, I have never registered a bank card; I avoid doing so for reasons of hacking and scams that are on the rise and that everyone can currently see...
Question: how come, please, Paypal is no longer enough, has collaboration with Ebay stopped, or is it because my buyer paid by card themselves? And also, am I currently required to register this payment card?
Thank you in advance for your clarification...

"I sold an item that, moreover, had just sold on another site"
Wouldn’t you then be liable for the commission fees? (which would justify the site’s request)

OP2 years agoWould there still be fees even if the item is no longer available and therefore not sent?
The system, which is very imperfect anyway, from a major competitor, is more logical: the seller has to confirm availability before the buyer pays.
Besides, in that case it would be simpler to just tell me directly.
No fraud issues ever by saving your MasterCard?
Well, in short, I'm going to call them.

Mentor2 years agoOn eBay, putting an item up for sale (or leaving it up for sale) means that it is available.
So if it finds a buyer, refusing to complete the sale means having to pay the fees (as if it had been sold)
= Each site has its own Terms of Use; I posted eBay's on this subject.
Yes: don't hesitate to contact them so they can confirm...
Best regards

Mentor2 years agoHello
To receive payment for sold items, you need to register your bank account.
https://www.ebay.fr/help/selling/getting-paid/recevoir-le-paiement-des-objets-vendus?id=4814&st=3&pos=1&query=Recevoir%20le%20paiement%20des%20objets%20vendus&intent=Recevoir&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1448
And for making purchases, you can choose the payment method that suits you, as long as it is allowed by eBay
