obtain an invoice for VAT payment
I would like to obtain a formal invoice from eBay to prove that I paid VAT on my purchase.
The customer service I contacted asked me to address the seller (outside the EU), who very quickly sent me a VAT-exclusive invoice (since it’s not him collecting the VAT anyway).
I don’t understand eBay’s position: since they collect VAT, they must provide proof of payment.
What can I do?

Indeed, you're right to bring up that lead as well...
I got fixated on this phrase given by @jph.an_23 ----> "seller (outside the EU) who very quickly sent me a VAT-exempt invoice (since he isn't the one collecting VAT anyway".... which has nothing to do with the delivery and customs clearance you're rightly talking about.

We see so many posts about double VAT charging when buying abroad that, personally, I didn’t think of anything other than the absence of IOSS....
Which just goes to show that collective effort still pays off and helps sweep through the full range of possible answers...

I’m afraid you won’t be able to get what you want... since this VAT is included in the payment request...
You’ll need to dig out your "payment information" here----> order details... where this famous VAT appears, which you paid and which eBay collected.
- make screen prints/scans of these elements and compile them...
Accounting is personal and does not depend on an online sales site...
