Unwanted automatic PayPal payment

Hello, it had been a long time since I had made a purchase on eBay and for my last purchase I requested a Paypal payment and the payment was made directly without me being able to enter my login information. However, I never gave PAypal permission to keep this information for automatic payments. I looked on my Paypal account and eBay is not part of the automatic payments. And when I go to eBay settings, under "Payment" and "Paypal Account", I get this message:

"PayPal accounts can no longer be linked, but those that were previously linked can still be used.

If you cannot create or edit listings because of this update, disable the option Immediate payment required for Buy It Now in the listing."

However, since I never authorized eBay to keep my Paypal information, how is it that the payment was made directly.

What I just want is to be able to manage my info and prevent eBay from making automatic purchases without my authorization. How can I make sure this doesn't happen again?

PS: On top of that, it's impossible to contact eBay, this is ridiculous, I'm 2 fingers away from closing my account.
