Payment of €255 already made, but balance still in arrears
Summary: auth_5 is experiencing an issue where, despite refunding 255 euros to a buyer as requested by eBay, their account shows a negative balance of the same amount. After confirming with their bank, Revolut, that the payment was completed, they're seeking advice on how to resolve the discrepancy with eBay, as their primary account is suspended and they cannot contact customer service. lingma85 suggests persisting in trying to reach eBay support for assistance and proposes collecting evidence in case the issue escalates to a collections department. auth_5 continues to express frustration at being unable to contact the buyer or get eBay to address the issue specifically.
Hello, I'm posting from my sister's eBay account because my main account is currently suspended and I can no longer contact customer service.
I have a problem regarding a payment of €255. After a dispute with the buyer, eBay asked me to refund €255, which I did. Yet eBay now considers that this amount has not been paid and my account shows a balance of -€255.
I contacted Revolut: they confirmed that the payment of €255 was indeed made and finalized on July 3, 2026. They also gave me an ARN number to trace the transaction.
I have not received any refund from Revolut and the payment is still clearly debited from my account.
So I'm trying to find out how to get eBay to find and match this payment with my account, because obviously I don't want to pay the same amount twice.
If someone has already run into this problem or knows how to contact the department in charge of this kind of issue, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

OP3 weeks agoUpdate on my issue: unfortunately, the situation still hasn’t been resolved. eBay keeps asking me for the €255 even though Revolut confirms that the original payment was indeed made.
eBay now says it canceled/credited back the €255 on July 23, but no refund of that amount shows up on my Revolut account.
I’ve sent eBay my bank statement, the ARN number, and the other proof they asked for. Even so, I’m still getting generic replies that don’t address my case.
One advisor had told me, though, that my case would be passed to a specialized team and that he would personally escalate the matter.
I’m simply trying to understand where the €255 went and get my balance corrected. If a moderator can point me to the right service or escalate this case, I’d really appreciate it.

For the moment.. the Customer Service is the only one to properly follow up/respond to you...
You have to go all the way to the end of the boxes/sections to click through in order to finally get a chat contact.
But couldn’t you ask your buyer for confirmation that these €225 were received...?
That would be proof to possibly report to eBay that you are filing a complaint for theft/fraud/etc...
Best regards

Try contacting S.Client with the account you're using now ...
You may have the postal details or other contact info for your buyer since you sold her an item...
Try to get in touch.
Otherwise here, on the forum.. we're more than helpless to help you...

OP3 weeks ago · EditedThank you for your reply. The problem is precisely that I have no way to contact the buyer: my account is suspended and I have no access to any of her contact details to get in touch with her.
Regarding eBay, I have already tried to contact them several times. At first, the agents take my case in hand and ask me for proof of payment, which I send them. But then either I get no response anymore, or they completely change the subject and reply about my ban, when that is absolutely not what I am asking about.
I am not trying to get my account back. I only want to understand why eBay is demanding €255 from me when I have already paid that amount and Revolut confirmed to me that the payment was indeed made and completed. I even sent them the proof and the ARN reference for the transaction.
So I am stuck: I cannot contact the buyer and eBay is not really handling my request regarding the payment. If you know of a process that would allow me to contact the relevant department directly, I would be grateful.

Since you don’t have the option to contact the site... and you have all the proof showing that you settled the issue...
personally, I’d play it a bit "kamikaze"...
that is to say--->
The site is going to keep sending you reminders, up to a collections department...
I’d wait until collections gets involved and then I’d present all my proof showing I paid, and also the site’s harassment over an unwarranted sum..
That should wrap up the case ...
Don’t forget, if you can, to record the conversations with Customer Service...
You may get other opinions..
Best regards
