Photo does not match the customer's product description
Summary: fanticx expresses concern about an eBay seller who uses a misleading photo in their product listing. The photo shows two bottles and a regulator, but the seller only offers one bottle, which could lead to misunderstandings and disputes as the photo does not match the description of the listing.
hello
Do you think it’s normal for an eBay seller to sell a product that doesn’t match the photo of the product in the listing?
Indeed, even if the photo shows 2 bottles + a regulator, the seller will only sell one bottle in this listing, which can cause problems and disputes because the photo does not match the reality of the listing

If the seller states in the title that he is only selling one bottle and the description confirms it... and especially if he doesn’t say the photo is contractual...
I don’t see where the problem is...
Going further...
if the seller puts one of the bottles on a table.. he’ll also have to sell the table... otherwise the listing risks being non-compliant...??
We could go on like this for ages with reasoning like that...
Best regards

OP1 month agoHello
The seller mentions "bottle" in the title.
The seller does not mention that the bottle is sold individually in the title.
Why not specify that directly in the title at the top of the page and in the ad heading?
To find out, you'll have to go further into the ad text, in the description that mentions that everything visible in the photo is actually for sale "by the piece".
Behind the deliberate complication, not very clear about the ad, there is the hidden questionable desire to trick the buyer, who buys only what they see in the photo.

from what you’re saying, there could be a problem if the buyer only looks at the photo.
The seller did what was needed: in the title, "bottle" in the singular + clarification in the description (I quote you) that everything visible in the photo is actually for sale as "individual items".
At this point, the seller isn’t the problem, the buyer is.
Out of curiosity, instead of publicly criticizing them on the forum, did you take the trouble to contact this seller and explain that their listing could be misleading for buyers who don’t go any further than the main photo?

The law, in truth, seems simpler to me from a comprehension point of view

When we talk about the law, we cite at the very least the legal texts and not an AI-generated answer. As a reminder (it’s written just below the answer you got): "AI responses may contain errors".
But I imagine that this mention seems just as useless to you as the descriptions salespeople write...
Why post on the forum when you already had the unbeatable answer from the AI? (Just in case, I’ll say that this is a rhetorical question)
So, going any further on the subject will be of no use.

Following the various previous exchanges...
The fact of showing a photo with several objects and at the same time indicating in the title and description that the item is for sale individually....
is only a way of presenting the products for sale, which could possibly lead to a misleading interpretation IF it is not accompanied by a clear description and explanation....
From what you say, that is not the case...
Therefore, it does not seem necessary to make a big deal out of it, since it would lead nowhere...
Also... in this case... if the buyer has questions, nothing prevents them from contacting the seller for an explanation, and then buying or not...
Kind regards
.
