I’m a novice buyer on Ebay and I’m wondering about one thing
Why, for items that are about the same size, from the same origin (US), can international shipping fees vary from one to two times as much? with some listings indicating that there may be import fees to pay upon delivery, and others indicating that no additional fees will be due upon delivery?
What does this depend on?
I’m interested in several listings but I have to admit that this question is a deal-breaker, sometimes the shipping fees are 5 to 10 times the price of the item.... and how can you know whether there won’t be a nasty surprise when it arrives? Is the amount shown when completing the purchase, or the mention "no additional fees upon delivery" reliable?

Between VAT, customs fees and carrier charges, you can't be sure you won't have to pay anything on delivery ...

To answer your questions... you need to carefully read the shipping information provided by the seller you're interested in...
The price difference may come from how the item is shipped...
- either directly by the equivalent of our postal service or another carrier, in which case import fees will have to be paid directly in France...
- or the seller uses ebay's delivery platform, which takes care of those famous import fees...
